Alex POV I sat at my desk and checked my watch for the tenth time in five minutes, and even though it was already nine-fifteen, the chair outside my glass wall was still empty and the coffee machine in the breakroom hadn't been touched. I felt a surge of anger tightening my chest because I had called her phone at least twenty times since two in the morning and it had gone straight to voicemail every single time, and I started to think that maybe Bianca was right about her being unreliable and shifty. I tried to focus on the merger documents in front of me but the words were just blurring together, and every time the elevator doors opened in the hallway I looked up expecting to see her walking in with some excuse about the subway or her aunt, but she never appeared.
