Should we lose one of us?” The entity answered calmly: “Sacrifice does not always mean physical loss. Sometimes, sacrifice is giving up something dear, an ambition or a personal desire, for the sake of others. The sword you carry represents strength, but it also represents responsibility. Sacrifice is a test of how much you are willing to give up your individual desires for the sake of others.” I then felt the pulse of the sword change in my hand. I looked at it and said, “If this is what I must do… I choose to give up the sword.” Then I said, “The real power is not in this sword. The real sacrifice is to trust in ourselves and each other without relying on the sword.”
