ALEX’S POV “Why do you smell like a cheap w***e?” she asked me. “It’s good to see you too, Mom,” I said dryly, brushing past her comment. The last thing I wanted was to argue with her right now. She didn’t press, but I could feel her eyes on me, studying me in that way only she could. Instead of pushing further, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around me, pulling me into a hug. “I missed you, Alex,” she said softly, pressing a kiss to each of my cheeks.
