“So what’s your perfect date?” Someone asks me, after stopping me in the hall.
“Why do you want to know?” I ask skeptical to answer them. I don’t know what they’d do with this information. I don’t know who’d they give it to. What if they give it to some creep?
“Oh, no reason,” they say in response. Well if I wasn’t scared then I am now.
“No comment,” I say turning away from them and walking away.
“Oh, come on, you got to tell me!” They to me as I walk further down the hall and further away from them.

“Hey, Melissa” I hear someone yell from down the hall. I turn and wave once I see who it is.
“Hey,” I say once they get to me at my locker.
“So I have a weird question to ask you,” she says, looking down at her feet then back up at me. I nod my head and she smiles a little.
“So, what would you say would be your ideal date?” She asks.
“Why is everyone asking me that today?” First, someone runs up to me and asks then 2 people in the first period, then someone else in lunch, and now you. Why do you want to know that?” I ask over with everyone asking me about my ideal date. She just looks around the hall opening and closing her mouth. I can tell that she doesn’t know what to say.
“You know what? My ideal date is just me and him spending time together, doing what we both like, and maybe going somewhere to watch the sunset.” I say just wanting all these people asking me to end.
“Thank you,” she says a smiling making its way on her face as she waves and turns running back down the hall. I sigh and close my locker and walk out of the school and to my car so that I can go home.

It has been a couple of days since people have been asking me what my ideal date is and no one has asked me since I answered her that one day, and I’m glad about that. I into the school and see people with flowers and people giving others flowers and this makes me remember that its Valentine’s Day today. I sigh thinking about how I’m all alone for Valentine’s Day today. I walk to my locker and I stop dead in my tracks when I see a red rose taped to my locker, I walk up to it and I see a note attached to it. I open it and it reads.
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
The stars light up the night
And so do you
I put my hand up to my mouth and reread the note. Before I know it a smile finds its way onto my face and I look up at the rose and reach out and grab it. I bring it to my nose and smell it.

I get in line and grab my food from the lunch lady. After paying I sit down at my usual table. As I’m sitting eating someone walks by and drops a note on my table and then walks off.
“What?” I ask as I pick up the note and look in the direction that the person went. Then after a little I look around when I see no one looking at me I look down at the piece of paper in my hand. I open it up and start to read what it says.
Roses are Red
Violets are Blue
My Heart is soaring
Only for you
“Another poem,” I think as I fold it back up and put it away. As I’m putting it away in my bag I see a little note on the back of it.
Meet me in the back of the gym after school
I sigh and put it away in my bag, I get up and grab my tray and take it to the trash and throw it out as the bell rings.

The last bell for the day rings and I grab my stuff and leave class and walk to my locker. I open it and put all the stuff that I don’t need in my locker and all the things that I do in my bag. I close my locker with a sigh and turn and leave school, as I’m walking to my car I remember the note that I got at lunch. I debate whether I should go or not. I shrug and turn towards the gym and walk around back and standing there I see… Brad. I smile and walk up to him.
“Hi,” I say when I walk up to him.
“Hey,” he says noticing I’m here.
“So are you the one that sent the notes?” I ask a smile finding its way onto my lips. He smiles and nods his head causing my smile to grow bigger. We stand there for some time in silence. I look at him from under my lashes and I can tell he wants to say something.
“So... Will you be… my valentine?” He asks looking at me with hope in his eyes. I smile and this causes the smile that he lost some time ago to return to his face, bigger and brighter than ever.
“Yeah, I will,” I say and I didn’t even know it was possible but his smile grew even more.
“Good. Do you want to go on a date later? I have the whole thing planned out. We can go to the movies and walk in the park and then when it becomes night time we can watch the sunset” He said looking out and motioning with his hands as we talked.
“Wait, wait, wait, he was the one to get those people to ask you about your ideal date?” Trevor asks me, turning to look at me. I nod my head and he chuckles looking away from me and back at the stars that are lighting up the sky.
“What’s so funny, about that?” I ask, and he just turns to me with a disbelief look on his face.
“If he liked you like he calmed he did, why didn’t he know what your ideal date was, cause I’m pretty sure you’ve talked about it before,” he says looking at me and then back up to the sky. I lay there for a little think, I have talked about it before, so he isn’t wrong, and it wasn’t even that hard to find out what it would be, I’m really an open book when it comes to that stuff, or I was.
“I guess you’re right,” I say looking up to the stars. After a couple of minutes in comfortable silence, Trevor pulls out his phone and looks at the time, and starts to get up. When I see him getting up I start to get up to.
“Oh no, you stay right there, I’ll be right back,” Trevor says when he sees me going to get up. I sigh and lay back down and I see him run off and towards the car. After a couple of seconds, he comes back and I look up at him as he comes running up with something in his hand.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, babe”
