Chapter 10

The case was worn easily. It helped that Hector had completely distabilized Barry by that first visit and by appearing in multiple places where Barry visited while he gathered evidence for the case. It got to a point that Barry had to beg Hector to try and find a way out of it. He pleaded that he would do anything for the case to be dropped but his suffering and desperation only made Hector happy. Hector told him that Luthan had only one intention; to make Barry pay for his crimes and nothing the lawyer could say or do would override that plan. When Barry turned to the King family they abandoned him, they threatened him to keep their name out of his mouth if he wanted to stay alive for much longer. He pleaded again with Hector Williams for immunity, he promised to tell all that he knew about the Kings if Hector would help him out but Hector didn't promise him anything especially when it became clear that he didn't have enough dirt on the Kings. They were being careful with him because they new that he used to be Luthan's lawyer. In the end, he lost the case. In the face of the evidence against him, including a clip of the security footage from three years ago where he had the guards beat Luthan up and left him there, he could not be defended. He lost the right to practice as a lawyer and was given ten years imprisonment in the face of the charges mounted against him by a lawyer like Hector Williams. “I genuinely enjoyed this case,” Hector said as he collected his check on the day before he left the city. “You're interesting Mr. Luthan King. Feel free to call me anytime you need legal advice or a lawyer you can rely on for a successful win.” Luthan nodded and shook his hands. “I'll definitely remember you. The only legal issue I am dealing with right now is that the woman I was married to before going to prison is still technically married to me. I sent her divorce papers but she has refused to sign them.” “Will you like my advice on that?” Hector asked and after thinking for a moment he said, “perhaps, but I don't wish to expend my time and braincells on that woman right now. I have better things to do, more money to make. I'll settle the problem with her when I'm ready.” Hector nodded. Throughout this case the Kings were very afraid of the turn out but luckily it worked in their favor and they were not brought before the jury, however, the case and the recent development around Luthan King made the investors suspicious about the initial story they'd been told about the family's connection with Luthan. When it was obvious that things were not as the family said, the investors quickly began to withdraw their funds. And the family was quickly going back to where it had started from. The next three months saw L.K cooperation grow like there was no tomorrow. Luthan's plans were full proof and the members of his firm were talented geniuses. Not only had he done this for years but he learned under Stanley and the BTB. The people who ran the business affairs of the country. He was no novice. In this three months, the cooperation had grown insanely and Mary Lynn had made a full recovery. He was flying her abroad today to go see his benefactor Stanley. He promised Stanley that he'd come back to see him after he had put things in place. He was very happy to take Mary Lynn with him. The plastic surgeon was extremely good at his job. Mary Lynn looked as beautiful as could be, her heart shaped face full of cautious smiles as though she was expecting something terrible to happen to her at any moment. He was helping her adjust her fur coat and guarding her with his arm as they walked, surrounded by guards, towards his helicopter. He was taking the chopper because Mary Lynn had once said casually that she wanted to know what riding in one felt like. “You don't have to treat me like a child,” Mary Lynn smiled at him. He was momentarily stunned as he usually was in her baby blue eyes. “I just want to make sure that you never see anymore suffering anymore,” he said. “Even the slightest discomfort is not allowed. You have been through enough.” She smiled at him. “I already feel like I'm living in a dream right now. I'm not sure I can get used to it.” She frowned. He knew that she still felt uncomfortable spending his money and using the luxuries he provided. She had faced injustice and pain for too long that she didn't believe she had the right to enjoy so much. Of course there was also the fact that the life that Luthan offered was so insane it was far more than she could ever allow herself to imagine. “I'll make sure that you get used to it Mary Lynn,” he said. “I am not going anywhere this time. Nor is my money and all the things I have now. I won't fail you a second time. And I will make sure that you watch all those who caused you so much pain suffer fates worse than yours.” She nodded. They got into the helicopter and Luthan actually expected her to be a little scared but she was excited. She looked out the chopper with her hair flying wildly and her eyes glowing behind the goggles. He couldn't help feel an unbridled rage at the thought of what this woman had endured at the hands of those bastards. Her beautiful face had been melted away, her jewel-like eyes permanently shut, hidden behind melted skin. He was going to make sure they all got what they deserved. They were in the city where Stanley was and Luthan guided Mary Lynn the entire way to his home. Luthan expected the man to welcome him heartily since it had been a while since they met. He did not expect to find out that the man was bed ridden with leukemia.
