Her Way
Looking out the window as the sun slowly dropped behind the ocean’s horizon, Chloe quickly finished cleaning up her room. She wanted to steal away to her secret place—the lagoon—before dark. Although her parents rented the townhouse for two weeks this summer, the first week had flown by too quickly. Each opportunity to visit the secluded pond was sacred. Chloe grabbed her light jacket and rushed toward the front door.
“Mom... Daaaaad...I’m goin’ down to the beach for a while. I’ll be back to help with dinner.”
“Please take a flashlight, honey,” her mom called from the spacious living room which faced the ball of sunlight casting its final rays of the day on the crashing waters. “And be careful!”
