"This is delicious," I try not to slurp a spoonful of the savory pho too loudly. "you made this?"

"Please don't be too impressed" Alex smiles through the glow of the candles on the dining room table. "You have had my stuffed french toast and my photo that's the extent of my culinary talents unless it's in a box and says add water."

"Well, you're very talented." i roll a lascivcious look over him seated across from me. "in the most delightful ways, I love how you f**k"

Alex returns my look with interest, his eyes carressing my n*****s through his t-shirt

"What you said out there" i tip my head towards the foyer

"What about it?" he doesn't edge or pretend hd doesn't know which part i mean.

"You said you were done with the games and you fully wanted me"

"Yes, am done"

w1d stare at each other through steam and w, seeing clearly.

For an anoxic second, i can't breathe. This words take my breath,

I sort through my emotions, the new emotions he has inspired. The back door opens to the kitchen

Alex 's lips tighten amd exasperation crinkles a frown on his face. I touch his hand on the table.

"Alex " my step mom Tracy tells from the kitchen. She walks into the dining room wearing a pair of Adidas tracks

"Damn," she frowns "you all got it dark in here"

She turns on the overhead light, simultaneously dispelling the darkness and the romance. "Hey Jean, i didn't even know you were back" she said sarcastically

She casts a glance over my attire or lack of a it "Did i interrupt you?" she asks with a straight face but her lips twitch.

Tracy never liked me, she has never liked me from the beginning, she always thought i was with Alex because of his social status.

I honestly had no idea why she hated me so much i mean she also obviously married Alex 's dad for his money, i mean Tracy was almost the same age as Alex

"What brings you by Tracy, are you with dad?"

"well i came to sew you"

"at this hour of the night?"Alex asked perplexed" Is everything okay?is dad doing okay"

"Your father is fine Alex , i need to speak to you privately am afraid it cannot wait"

I was starting to be irritated by Tracy eat could she poss have to say that she could not wait for the next day to come deliver. And why was she saying she wanted to speak to him privately. Anything she wanted to say she could say in front of me.

"Alex and I are back together Tracy am sure whatever you want to say to Alex , surely you can say to me too" I tried to interject since it seemed like Alex wasn't going to aay anything.

"Am afraid its personal dear," she said with so much mockery "Alex can i please talk to you outside"

Alex stands up and gives me a kiss on my forehead before walking out with Tracy. I haf a really bad feeling about this, she was offly cold towards me tonight, more than the usual times. I wasn't going to let it go without a fight though i needed to know what they were talking about.

"What's going on Tracy? You are being offly mysterious, every okay?"

"Yeah am okay, it's you am worried about Alex "

"Why would you be worried about me though, am doing great me and Jean are finally okay"

"What about Tera how is she?"

"Tera is fine, but i doubt with all this mysteriousness you want to talk about my relationship dilemmas"

"Actually i do Alex , it's about...."

"I was going to tell you guys Tera is pregnant, I just needed to find the perfect time" Alex cut her short

"Whaaat, oh my God Alex , that's amazing." she said excitedly hugging him "congratulations dear thats amazing news, your father is going to be so thrilled"

"wait that's not what you were going to say, I thought you found out"

"No i had no idea am here for a completely different reason."

Just as she was about to say what really brought her here she spotted me at the door eavesdropping on their conversation. She told Alex to walk her to the gate where her driver was waiting"

With Tera finally under my roof, things with Jean seemed to be progressing on so well. It's been almost a week since we had any argument, my mind is finally at peace. After tonight i was positive ai wanted to be with her and only her. I liked Tera but that could never really amount to anything especially after how she has been acting. But i would prefer to hate me, but my kids be safe and well taken care of.

I haven't told Jean yet that Tera is pregnant with twins yet, i doing want to disturb the peace that is there right now. I also make a mental note to call my parents and tell them the news. My dad will be so happy for this, he knew how much losing Zuri affected me and Tracy will be delighted and she really liked Tera .

So am really taken by surprise when Tracy stops by unannounced like this at night, it must be really important.

"So whats going on Tracy, suspense is killing me" i say as i walk her towards her car.

"You seem happy Alex , and am sorry but i have some really bad news"

Am completely shocked, she just said my dad is okay, i told her about the pregnancy and she was happy for me. What could possibly be wrong

"What's going on Tracy, talk to me"

"it's about Jean, she is not telling you the whole truth"

"Jean?? What about her?" i ask completely perplexed, i mean the last person i was expecting her to mention was Jean, she has been so supportive

"She is playing you Alex , all of it" she said shaking her head "we just found out the real reason she came back, it was not for you or Zuri's memorial Alex , it was all part of an act to get close to you"

"Well yes, she is finalizing her divorce, i know that, she might have used Zuri's memorial but she does want to get back together"

Tracy looks at me with sad eyes like she was sorry for me

"No honey, she is not divorcing her husband, it's all part of an act, they are working together to extort money from you, her husband's company was in trouble, they are literally bankrupt so he told her to come back to you get married and make sure it's official this time so that she can access half of your properties" Tracy shakes her head "i wish it wasn't true Alex , but the last time she left you, she never went out of town, we were at the palace hotel with your dad when we spotted her with her husband, they were all lovey dovey, they did not seem like people who were getting a divorce at all"

"wait what, that was like a month ago, why didn't you say anything?" i cut her short

"We didn't want to cause alarm incase we had it all wrong. We wanted to have facts first before we told you, so your dad hired a private investigator to find out more," she pauses for a minute still shaking her head "i wish it wasn't all true but it is, her husband is actually still in town as we speak"

Everything started making sense all of a sudden, this explained why Jean was so supportive, she caught me with Tera several times and she still forgave me. The last time she left i for sure thought we were done but she came back. And she took the baby news so well than i had actually anticipated. It also explained her mysterious phone calls.

"But i saw the divorce papers myself, she signed them even" i say finally the truth hitting home

"yes but she is still very much with her husband it was all a well thought out plan" Tracy sighed slowly "didn't you ask yourself how she willingly came back even though you were cheating on her with Tera , you just told me Tera is pregnant, i assume Jean already knows, if she was really in love with you i assure you, she wouldn't be in that house right now"

"What am i supposed to do now Tracy, i don't even know how to face her or even what to say to her"

"Alex you should think rationally first, figure out how much she knows about you our family, she is likely to black mail you with the information she has on us"

"oh my God Tera "

"what about her"

"She will use her pregnancy, she knows i wanted to keep the news private until i figured an ideal situation, she also knows aloot about Tera 's past life which will make good tabloid news"

"What does she have on Tera ?" she asks curious now

"About her life, what she used to do"

"You told me Tera was a law student right? That's not bad"

Once again my lies were catching up to me "i lied,"

Eyes completely open wide "so she is not a lawyer?" she asks shocked

"oh how i wish, she is a law student that part was true, but she was working as a high end call girl to pay for he studies"

"she is a p********e??" Tracy asked now completely shaken "you got a p********e pregnant.?"

"That's not all," i say quietly

"I know, that's why I can't let that happen, Tera and i have our differences but i can't let anything bad happen to her, she didn't ask for all of this, she was just doing her job"

"Actually she did Tracy, am the one who seeks her out, i paid her to be my pretend girlfriend that weekend you and dad came to visit for the memorial of zuri"

"I didn't want you and dad to worry, i wanted you to see i was happy and i was moving on so i needed some who wouldn't get attached so I paid her to"

"So explain to me Alex how does a contract girlfriend end up pregnant with your child?"

"That's a good question Tracy" ibsay shaking my head "but after our contract ended i had taken a liking to her so i saw her often and she tried to shut me down i just went to her job and requested her, so it's not all her fault really. I wanted her"

"But how sure are you, she wasn't sleeping with anyone else that pregnancy could belong to anyone,"

“I thought of that, but she told me she wasn't sleeping with anyone else, and I believe her,”

“ But Tera is different, she didn't even want to tell me she was pregnant for the same reason, she thought i will think she did it on purpose”
