Beta Malcolm
I grab my cup of coffee from the table and ask, “So, does anyone have any big plans for today?”
Even though I ask, I’m still not used to having breakfast without Katelyn here. She always has a way of brightening the gloomiest of days with just her smile or her sweet voice.
Caleb, my son, and the next beta of our pack, asks, “Where did Bridget go? Did she actually find Katelyn?”
I slowly nod my head.
My wife, Jane, adds, “Honey, you never told me about what Bridget found out. Can you please let us know? It can’t be a secret to us. We are family.”
I try to think about my conversations with Katelyn, but my mind goes blank. The only things I can really remember are Katelyn is fine, Bridget has found her, and Bridget has found her mate, who is human, but beyond those things
