The sun sets a few minutes ago. People in different uniforms and suits line up at the side of the street, for a bus to ride home. A few meters away from the bus stop stands a three-star restaurant. Inside, Olivia sits at one of its tables beside the glass wall. She was alone, at a table for two. Olivia gazes through the transparent wall, with a glass of wine in her hand. It was her second glass, and she didn’t order anything yet. The waiter persuaded her before to choose her meal so it will be cooked in no time when her company arrives. Olivia refused and said, “I am not sure if I will have company tonight”. The waiter didn’t respond to her reply, instead, he said the typical word a server says, “Let me know when you are ready”, and walks away. An hour passed, Olivia already drank five glasses of wine. She doesn’t care to drink much, since the wine has no effect on her consciousness. She can walk straight and still scan the files of the people she will put into the interrogation. Olivia spends an hour in the restaurant but hasn't ordered from the waiter she just sips the wine and stares out at the passers-by. Olivia picks up her phone, she dials a number but it has no use since she always receives one answer, “out of reach”. A fuel of anger rises in her chest, but Olivia must contain it. She was in a public place, therefore she has to act dignified, so she diverted her mind to a new topic, her work. Olivia asked the waiter for a check. She placed her money on the top of it and left thirty dollars for the tip. If she will think and plan for questioning tomorrow, Olivia needs to find a quiet place, when all of a sudden, Heath Buckley, a tall young man in a white polo, approaches his girlfriend Olivia. “Olivia!”, Heath smiles and opened his arms. However, Olivia walks past him. “Wait!”, he chases her, “Wait I will explain”, he grabs her wrist. “I don’t wanna hear it”, Olivia shrugs her arms, against his grips. The eyes of the people in the restaurant stare at them. Olivia doesn’t want to put herself embarrassed, so she dashes out of the restaurant, and Heath followed her. When they reached outside he manages to wrap his arms around her from behind. “I am sorry, I promise I won’t repeat this next time”, he said Olivia produced a loud sigh, “You always do this...I am fine if you are busy, but is it that hard to inform me?”, “I did look”, Heath gets his phone from his pocket and showed the screen to her. A typed message wasn’t sent. “Shoot I forgot to send it”, he chuckles, in an awkward manner, “Fine, don’t repeat this ever again, or else, I’ll be mad at you”, Olivia grunted, “I am sorry babe”, the man said, “Here, I have a gift for you”, he then gives her a paper bag from a famous shoe brand. Olivia’s straight face brightens up. “Let’s open it in the car”, she said and both of them went inside a red sedan. She opened it up and saw three inches of red wedge high heels. The delight on her face changes within a second, although her lips smile her eyes don’t. “Do you like it?”, Heath asked her, “Of...of course, but I don’t wear heels ”, she said. Heath looked at her in the eyes with his mouth a little open. “I….uuhh”, Heath pushes his tongue to spit an explanation, but his mind doesn’t cooperate, he couldn’t figure out words he must say. “I…”, Heath scratches the back of his neck and smiles in an awkward manner. His actions made him caught off guard, with no weapons to shield himself back from the situation. However, an idea sparks so he asked, “Really? Well...didn’t you were one last time we went to a party?” Heath rebounds the argument to his girlfriend, yet it has no use. “It’s part of the costume, can’t you remember?”, her face becomes expressionless “Oh, didn’t you say you love them?”, “Of course not!”, all of a sudden Olivia shouts, “they are painful!”, “All right, I am sorry, I didn’t notice”, he said Olivia then gasps and hits him, with the pillow from the back of her seat, “You didn’t notice what?”, her eyes widen sending a fear on Heath’s nerves, if he answered the truth, the rope which keeps Olivia patient and gentle, unties and the monster in her rages. It’s better to lie, yet Heath couldn’t find a reason again, thus he stayed silent, with his eyes on her. “Oh my…!”, Olivia grunts, “You are unbelievable! We have been together for two years, and you still couldn’t remember little details about me!”, “I am sorry, ok, I am pretty sure, you also don’t know me”, he replied, “Oh really?”, Olivia raises her eyebrow, “Do you want me to enumerate the things you like and hate? I know you better than yourself”, she said, Heath apologizes to her, he understands he made the situation worst, still didn’t blame himself because he didn’t argue back, from the moment Olivia opened the gift she already knew what was going on, therefore the only solution to acquit himself from the situation is plead, he will not repeat his mistakes. “I am sorry”, he holds Olivia’s arms, but she shrugged it and said, “Get out!”, “Come on! I didn’t bring my car”, he replied, “Figure it out yourself”. Heath has no choice, but to leave. Olivia was one of the strong-willed people he had ever met, she wouldn’t start the car if he will still be there. The car droves off and Heath stands at the side of the road, behind a bar. He turned his head around and stares at the bar for a little, then walked inside. His situation made his head numb, a drink is his best companion in all the troubles he’s in, and alcohol always helps him to make it vanish even in the meantime.
