Olivia droves towards the police station near the City Hall, in the afternoon. She parked her car outside and went right away to her boss, George Jarvis’ office. The two of them were supposed to have a short meeting and have an update about the case, hence, Olivia no longer wasted a single time, and dashed in there. However, when she reached his office, George is on the phone. The moment he noticed Olivia at his office door, he signals his hand, and she went inside. “Look out for my stuff, I’ll have to take this”, he whispered, then walked outside. Now Olivia was left alone in the room, she stands up and wanders her eyes around at the trophies and pictures around. Although curious, she didn’t have the guts to open her boss’ drawer and private files, but after a minute her integrity crushes down. George’s laptop is still turned on, not yet locked. At first, Olivia has no interest to peek at it, but the side of her eyes caught an image, hence she touches the laptop and looked at the folder named confidential case number three on the file manager which contains the files of their investigation. When she clicks the folder it requests a password. She has no time, to figure out the password, thus out of desperation of knowing information about their case, she connected a USB from her bag, plugged it in, and transferred the file. After it was done, she unplugs it and straight away kept it in her bag. Olivia sits back on her chair and picked up her phone as nothing happened, but the sweats on her forehead didn’t help. George came and apologizes for making her wait. He sits back, on his chair, and clicks the touchpad of his laptop. Olivia’s heart pounds a bit, since her mind asks itself, how did she leave the laptop after using it. The question in her mind intensifies as George stares at his laptop screen with his brows furrowed. His action sends a signal on Olivia to figure out an explanation, but she chose not to, instead she’ll just act as if nothing happened. Fortunately for her, George closes the laptop, and invited her, they discuss the proceedings of the investigation. This didn’t remove the thoughts on her head, about the files, yet she set them aside and listens to her boss. George, lights up a cigarette between his fingers, “Since I haven’t found many clues on the crime scene, I searched thorough on the victim’s items, in his house and office”, he said, “How so?”, Olivia asked “I got consent from his family abroad, don’t worry”, George uttered and places the tip of the cigarette at his mouth, then blew a cloud of smoke. “The suspect did his job neatly”, he added, “Sorry sir?”, she told him “We found nothing again aside from random useless papers”, he said. Olivia didn’t anticipate that her conversation with her boss seemed to be pointless again. He said what he did, but brought not a single evidence or a relevant piece of information. She looks up at George, and his achievements and now she has the chance to work with him, her hopes begin to fade. It made her think, George hides the information from her because he didn’t trust her, it would be best if he handles the case alone. Olivia won’t let it happen, she’ll prove her abilities and capability to him, thus she told him, “Sir, I suggest if both of us, will look for the clue, it would save time and effort”. George puts down his cigarette in the ashtray, and he stares at Olivia. “Haven’t we talked about this”, “Sir, I swear, in no time, I can place a great contribution on this case”, she pleaded. George didn’t argue with her anymore and agrees. Her plea of a thousand times, feds him up with it, besides she understands Olivia will persist on her aspiration on the case, “I know if I declined you will still walk on your own”, he said. “Thank you very much, sir, I won’t disappoint you” Olivia smiles at him. “All right, all right, tomorrow I’ll ask the team on their search at the victim’s office, would you want to come?”, “I would love to sir, but it would be better if I search somewhere else, instead”, she said George gave his consent on the condition that she’ll tell every developments to him first. He also required her to give him reports without letting a single hour pass. Olivia drops a promise to her boss, and the two exchange a few reminders and information with each other before Olivia departs. When she walks along the corridors of the police station she met across the way a young short policeman, Olivia called him, and they both approach each other. “Afternoon, Mich!”, she greets the policeman and he did the same to her. “I thought you’re at the court session today?”, Olivia asked afterwards, “It was canceled, how about you? How was work?”, he asked “It’s great, you?” “It’s fine, I actually have to get going now”, Mich said to her “So see you around”, she told her with a smile. Then, Mich replied the same. Olivia takes a few steps and all of a sudden she again remembers the file earlier. She turns around and called Mich again. “Are you busy later?”, she asked. Mich paused and ponders for a few seconds before he replies with a no. “Can we go out after work, I need a favor”, Olivia said. Mich agrees and both of them went on their different paths. Seven in the evening, Olivia sits in her car and called her boyfriend Heath. There’s no answer, it made Olivia infuriated with him again, but a text from him pops up on her screen. It says he’s at his home, asleep because his work in the morning exhausts his body, therefore Olivia didn’t react anymore and placed her phone in her bag. She starts the car and drives out from the parking down to the loud roads of the city. The nighttime rises but still the people who came from work crowd the city. The path on her destination runs smooth at first but, after a few minutes, the cars in front of her pile up. Olivia turned on the music in her car and calms her nerves. It took almost ten minutes before her car finally can move on the dense road. When she passes on one of the steep streets a few cars were left around. Olivia makes a turn again and fewer cars were present. In a couple of minutes, only a black minivan follows behind her. She turns off the music and focuses her eyes on the road. Olivia takes another left turn and drove for three minutes. All this time the car behind her earlier was still after her. Olivia then turn left again, and again, but the car didn’t leave her alone. Lights and posts can be found on the entire street, it gives Olivia a clear view of the angles around her, she peeks on the car’s windows, but it is black and tainted. She pulls off a gun under the car seat beside her and leaves it next to her. In this type of situation, where her emotions in her chest stay silent and calm, therefore it helps her mind become sharper. She drives to the highway packed with cars again. Even though cutting off people in traffic, can boil someone’s blood, Olivia has no choice but to do it, in order to get out of the sight of the car behind. If she finds her car fits, or there is a space, she’s gonna take it. Some of the car’s horns blasted at the back of her, but she didn’t mind. If the car is still following behind her, she will park the car, and confront the minivan, it’s dangerous, but she already had an experience, on exchanging fires, at one of the cases she held. Olivia then created another fast turn on the crowded mini road and at this moment the car was no longer in her sight. She taps a few buttons on her car screen, dials a number, and called it. Within a few seconds, the person answered. Olivia called MIch and told him, their dinner is canceled, because of an emergency then she apologizes. After the call ends, Olivia parked her car in a coffee shop a few miles away. It is safer for her, not to drive home, since her followers might still lurk, without her knowledge. When she parks, at the side of the coffee shop, Olivia turned her face around, but there’s nothing, yet she didn’t place her mind at rest. Olivia steps inside a coffee shop she never visited before, it is probably new, because she haven’t seen before not even once. Inside, ten people sits on the different wooden stools, at tables for two. Most of them were all by themselves, they are either typing on their laptops, scrolls on their phone, or writing. The jazz music which comes from the radio at the top side of their wall quite helps brighten up, Olivia’s dull mood. She sits on her favorite spot, a table beside the glass walls, where the bypassers and the busy roads are visible, besides the fact, she also makes sure, no more strange events or people around the place. An aroma of bitter roasted hot brewed coffee beans scatters in the air of the coffee shop and induces in her nose, to grab its strong black taste. Olivia didn’t persist on her guts and ordered herself the black coffee, on the counter, when all of a sudden, a familiar face sits on the wooden bar stool. She looks a bit closer but not long because she might alarm the person. “It’s him!”, she shouted in her head, then Olivia takes a few steps to talk to him, but out of nowhere, the cashier greets her. She stares at the cashier for a few seconds and noticed she’s next to order. Olivia told her the coffee she wanted then, the cashier makes her wait. Since she hasn’t received the coffee yet, Olivia walks towards the man. She stands next to the person “Mr. Glen Hopkins?”, she asked. Glen was on his phone when he turns his eyes to her. “Oh! Ms. Clark, what are you doing here? Have a seat”, he told her, and Olivia followed. “Nothing, I just want to refresh my mind after work”, Olivia uttered in a bit of delight. “How about you?”, “Oh, I’m waiting for my brother,” he said “Yeah, I remember him, Adrian right”, Olivia told her, and he nodded. “Well, do you two usually visit here?”, she asked. Glen pauses for a second before he nods again. “We plan to visit someone”, he added. “I see, did you use the blue car when we pulled you guys over”, she teases him, and chuckles, “No, I used black one this time”, he giggles, and Olivia goes along with him. The cashier then calls Olivia's name and shouted her order was ready. Before she went there, Olivia bid goodbye, but Glen didn’t end the conversation yet, by asking the same question he told her before, them going out together, and again Olivia declined, she made it clear it will be impossible, if there were more people other than them, in order to avoid suspicions. Glen fell on silence, “I would look unto it first, then I’ll call you”, he said. Olivia agreed, took her coffee, and went outside the coffee shop. She walks towards the parking, and scanned every black car and looks closer onto them. No black minivan is in sight, therefore she releases her speculation, of Glen, being behind the person in the car. However, Olivia can’t let her guards down, she’d rather trust a strange person in an alleyway than him. Little did she know, Glen feel the same, he wanted Olivia closer to him, to buy her trust, and clear his name in the eyes of the law, since he still have no idea if he is one of the prime suspects in suspicion about the death of their former Mayor.
