Lena felt the box being taken from her arms and tried to stop it, but her body went limp, making her fall forward. Daniel caught her again, making it look like she had thrown herself into his arms. What made it worse was how even this simple touch sent shivers through her body. Realizing the orange juice must have been spiked, Lena's disappointment in her mother deepened. Daniel held her, now soft and pliant like a kitten, a slight smile playing on his lips. He walked to the bed and sat down, still holding her, as he examined the box's contents.
