When Lena regained consciousness, she found herself tied to a chair, unclear about what had happened.
Her last memory was of the phone call... What happened after that?
Hansen and his henchmen stood a few steps away, fear etched on their faces as if she were a dangerous beast.
Two of them, standing the farthest away, seemed injured. One was cradling his arm and the other limping.
Lena felt grateful to whoever had hurt them.
"Boss, she's awake. What now?" A thug with blonde hair asked, his voice trembling.
"Of course, we will continue with our plans!" Hansen growled, his face dark with anger. "After what she did, we've got to regain our pride, How else are we gonna keep our place?"
"But what if she goes crazy again?" The blonde thug was worried.
"Give her this. Even if she goes mad, she'll be begging for it," Hansen said, producing a bottle of pills meant to satisfy his twisted desires just like the perverse toy.
The other three men looked worried but didn't dare oppose Hansen.
Hansen took a couple of steps forward, then reconsidered, and tossed the bottle to the blonde thug. "You do it!"
The thug hesitated, his face showing reluctance. "Boss, this is too dangerous..."
"Just do it!" Hansen barked, kicking the thug forward.
The thug, trembling, approached Lena with the pills. Under her furious glare, he pried her mouth open and managed to force one pill down her throat before attempting to flee.
"Who said just one? Give her the whole bottle, now!" Hansen shouted.
"But that could kill her..." The thug protested.
Hansen's face twisted with rage. "Who cares? She's just a fifty-thousand-pound commodity. If she dies, she dies!"
Lena struggled fiercely against her bonds, but it was futile.
Hansen, lost in his madness, urged the thug to hurry.
The blonde thug, with no other option, continued to feed Lena pill after pill until the bottle was empty.
As the pills took effect, Lena felt her consciousness blur again. Her mind grew foggy, her vision hazy. She cursed Hansen inwardly, but no sound came from her throat.
As the drug's effect intensified, her body felt like it was on fire, growing unbearably hot.
Despite his earlier bravado, Hansen didn't dare approach Lena before the drug took full effect.
Time crawled by, and just as Lena felt she couldn't hold on any longer, she heard the sound of helicopter rotors.
A massive explosion followed, shaking the room violently.
Lena saw cracks forming on the wall in front of her and spreading like a spider's web.
"f**k!" Hansen cursed, panicking as he bolted for the door without regard for anything else.
Just as he reached the door, there was a deafening crash.
The door flew off its hinges, slamming Hansen against the wall before dropping to the floor.
"Who the hell kicked me?" Hansen grumbled, getting up, only to freeze at the sight of a man with a rifle.
The newcomer had wild, short hair, a high-bridged nose, and a stern expression that suggested he was not to be trifled with. He was tall and muscular, his physique evident even under his black combat uniform.
"Daniel..." Lena murmured, her heart pounding.
It was Daniel. His eyes scanned the room before he swiftly took down the two nearest thugs with precise shots. He then aimed at the blonde thug, who was trying to escape.
"Don't kill me! It was all Hansen's idea. I was just following orders!" The thug begged, dropping to his knees.
"Following orders?" Daniel scoffed, pulling the trigger and ending the man's life.
During the brief shooting, Hansen seized the opportunity to grab Lena, using her as a shield. "You came to save her, right? Stay back, or I'll kill her!"
Lena sighed, anticipating Daniel's response.
"Oh? Do you think I care if she lives or dies?" Daniel asked, amused. He raised his gun and, without hesitation, fired at Hansen's head.
Lena felt the heat of the bullet as it passed by her.
Daniel walked over, his strong arms wrapping around Lena to untie the ropes.
Their bodies were close, and Lena could smell his scent.
Daniel frowned at the blood on her face, his eyes sharp. "Are you hurt?"
Without waiting for a response, he began checking her for injuries, finding none.
"I'm not hurt," Lena said, hiding her hands behind her back.
Daniel noticed her movement and grabbed her hand, seeing the clear signs of an electric shock. Anger flared in his eyes. "They dared to harm you! I should've killed them..."
Lena looked at Daniel, curiosity in her eyes. "Are you worried about me?"
Daniel quickly denied it. "No."
Lena didn't believe him and pressed on, "If you don't care, why did you come to save me?"
Daniel was silent for a moment before replying, "I promised I would protect you."
Lena hadn't expected him to remember this. She thought he had long forgotten.
She lowered her head, feeling the warmth of Daniel's hand, the sound around her fading away.
She lifted his hand to her cheek, holding it close.
"What are you doing?" Daniel's expression was tense.
Lena turned her cheek, kissing his palm gently.
Her soft lips felt like feathers brushing against his heart.
Lena began unbuttoning Daniel's combat uniform, her slender fingers exploring under his shirt.
"What did they give you?" Daniel asked, finally noticing Lena's unusual behavior.
Lena didn't answer. Instead, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed him.
The world went silent. She heard her heartbeat, and his, very clearly.
The drug Hansen forced her to take heightened her desires, weakened her will, and made her senses more acute.
Daniel could have easily pushed Lena away, but as she drew near, it felt like an invisible current connected them. He felt a deep longing, a desire for more.
Eventually, Daniel gave in, wrapping his arms around Lena's waist and deepening the kiss.
Feeling his passion, Lena responded even more fervently.
She lifted her legs around his waist, her fingers tracing his abs, murmuring, "You're much stronger than him..."
Daniel pulled back, his face dark. "Who is he?"
