“Let’s put some air in the tires and push it out of the weeds,” Ronnie said. “This is our only chance of getting to Corpus Christi quickly.”
James ran to the shop for an air compressor and extension cord. Ronnie, Robbie, and Sean pulled some of the overgrown weeds while they were waiting for James to hook the extension cord to his power supply from the solar panels.
Thirty minutes later, they had the tires aired up and the Volvo onto open ground.
“Looks better already,” Sean said.
Everyone stood and stared at the old car. The frowns on their faces said they all had serious doubts whether the old Volvo would run again.
James took the air compressor back to the barn and returned with a battery charger. While he had the hood up, he checked the oil, water, belts, and hoses. He led the men
