Chapter 20
All the families descended once again on the Lindgren homestead eager to hear the latest news about Corpus Christi. Numerous important decisions needed to be made in these trying times and these meetings bonded the residents of Peaceful Valley into a close-knit group. Robbie started by informing everyone of the situation in Corpus Christi.
“I didn’t think Linda was going to have a problem when we were there before,” he said, “but as it turns out, it looks like Sandra’s legacy is far from dead. There’s a new sheriff in town . . . a guy by the name of Billy Drake.”
Beka’s eyes focused on Robbie. “I know that name.”
Ronnie leaned forward. “What can you tell us about him?”
“He’s a couple years older than I am,” she said. “I went out with him a few times, but he was a nasty kid.
