With that thought, Robbie and John were quiet the rest of the trip home. They both knew that in war, people died on both sides. Neither could expect that their families would come out of this ordeal unharmed.
When John and Robbie reached the Lindgren homestead, Robbie let out his wolf howl signal, which was returned by James.
“How’s it going, Dad?” Robbie asked.
“Some of the girls are going to need a lot of practice,” James whispered.
John walked over and gave Kathy a hug. “How are you doing, sweetheart?”
Florence wrapped her arms around Robbie and gave him a sloppy kiss. Robbie immediately turned red in the face. Florence giggled.
