Chapter 2
-Clyde-
“Remember son, we are different from the rest of them. You are the future alpha of the blade pack, a force not just anyone can content with.”
Father says as she stares at the students walking into the school building.
It is a new year and father has already started with his usual demeaning manner.
He stares at the students out of the car window like they were nothing but mere insects.
“Yes father.”
I say choosing not to make him angry this early.
“Yes, you must always remember that there is not one thing that you cannot have in this world. That is the privilege a select few get to enjoy.”
He says this time staring at me, his eyes narrowing deeply like he was trying hard to stare into my soul.
“I have arranged a meeting for you with the Belezifs. I hear they have a daughter your age.”
He continues lighting a cigar in the cramped car.
Subtly, I take a peak at our family driver trying hard to catch his breath.
Sebastian has been in the family for generations and now that he is elderly, his health is not the same as it used to be.
Well, father does not seem to care but there are times I wished I was not the only son of the family.
The imaginary weight that I get to carry on a daily basis is suffocating.
“She may not be your mate but she will do nicely. Her family is on par with us and sooner or later, they will soon come to learn about our true selves.”
“Yes father.”
I respond as he adjusts the collar of my blazer.
“You may leave but always remember that there is nothing in this world that cannot be yours. You only have to take it.”
I choose to say nothing and shut the door.
The car zooms away already making my chest feel light.
I chose this school because it was far away from home, far away from everything that I knew.
It was far away from the responsibilities tied to my neck.
“Oh look!”
“Who is that?”
“He is the eldest son of the Harrington estate!”
“I’ve only seen him on the news.”
“It was a good idea to come to this school instead of the private swiss school”
“I wonder what my chances would be with him.”
“Father told me to build connections with the eldest son of the Harrington estate.”
The whispers echoed from all around me as stares pierced through me from every side.
I have not even been here for an hour and any hopes of a quiet life has gone down the drain.
How did people even know I was here?
I made sure to have it all under wraps except father-
I let out a tired sigh.
Of course he would do something like this.
I have no doubt that he already has his eyes here watching my every move.
He has already made sure that I am unable to live the way I wished while I am here.
Shit.
God I’m exhausted.
“Welcome sir, allow me to guide you to the main hall.”
I heard from behind me.
A tall middle aged man with a student behind him spoke out.
“Thank you.”
“Emmanuel here will help you with your bags and help you get settled in.”
He said and before I could object, the student behind him did just that.
“Now this way sir.”
He ushered me in while leaving Emmanuel to handle my bags.
I felt the familiar uncomfortable feeling in my chest.
**************
“Here is your class schedule, young master.”
Emmanuel said as he placed my file into my bag that he was carrying with his.
“Hey Emmanuel right?”
“Yes sir?”
“I would prefer it if you called me by my name. There is no need for that young master business. We are all students and in fact, I would like for us to be friends.”
I say but he just stared at me like I had gone crazy or something.
“Alpha.”
Shit.
“Your father planted me here to look after your needs. You are not only the oldest son of the Harrington family but you are also the future alpha of the Blade Pack.”
Oh dear
That sky old fox always having his way in my personal matters.
“To address you as anything else would be an insult. please forgive me young master.”
Be replied with an unshaken resolve.
My nostrils flared, filling my lungs with the cold air.
The chest feels tight and it’s hard to breathe.
THUMP.
I felt a small shove at my back.
“Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry.”
A small voice spoke but it sounded like something I had never heard before.
My entire body stood frozen in shock as beads of sweat gathered on the sides of my face.
It was like I had been out under some kind of spell.
“Hey, can’t you watch where you’re- ohhhh”
Grrrrr
Whatever may be happening, it seems like Emmanuel had been put under the same spell as well.
There is something about it that makes my blood boil.
I turn around and my breath hitched.
My heart thumped violently against my chest as a weird feeling surrounded me.
Huh?
What is this?
Before me was a girl….
A girl with long silver hair and beautiful grey eyes.
Her silky hair fell down in waves around her contrasting beautifully with her pale skin.
Her cheeks were rosy and her lips——
I’m so sorry, I was distracted.”
She says, her voice is soft yet more than enough to make my entire body tremble.
“Well, I’m sorry again.”
She said again about leaving but there was something in me that refused to let that happen.
Before I could think, I grabbed her bag from her shoulders and swiftly took her class schedule from her hands.
I cannot believe that a day would come. I would be glad I had someone at my beck and call.
I could carry her things for her.
For once, I was proud to be a Harrington.
That name alone is sure to let me have her….. Just like father always said.
There was nothing in this world I could not have.
I WANT HER.
“Name?”
I asked trying hard to keep my composure but she just stared at me blankly.
“Are you new to Prudence?”
I ask again, leading her towards my private quarters.
Everything else be damned.
“None of your business.”
She responded and before I could even respond, her bag and class schedule was out of my hand.
I could not help but watch her as she skipped away towards another girl.
Did she perhaps not know who I was?
“Young master?”
“Everything!” I growl
“What?”
“Find out everything about that girl.”
“I want to know her name, class, family background, her friends, siblings, what she likes and hates.”
“Everything Emmanuel!”
“Yes young master!”
“Mate…”
