Chapter 42: Lullaby Revisited

North Lake Street
Julia Lullaby met me on the sidewalk in front Jamie Bodice’s house on North Lake Street. She brought two large coffees with her. The woman was dressed in a pair of shorts, high-top sneakers, and a T-shirt that read Smile at My Beauty.
I took one of the offered coffees from her and thanked the woman. The morning liquid was maybe needed more than any affection that both Beckley and Matthew could have offered me, and I enjoyed its first three burning sips without complaint.
Julia used her key to the get us inside the three-bedroom Colonial. “Sometimes this pesky little bastard doesn’t work,” referring to the key.
Eventually she got the front door to the place open and we walked inside. The smell of blood washed through my head. D
