There was silence in the Library.
The creeping shadows had unnerved her at first, as they settled over the room in unnervingly simple formations. Twice she’d imagined that she’d heard the footsteps of someone else behind her; quiet treads on the carpet that betrayed the tell-tale signs of another’s presence. Then she’d realised how absurd that was. She wondered if her runaway thoughts were testament to how paranoid she’d been acting, or how fearful she’d become.
