Ray and Ace picked them up at nine o’clock on Saturday morning to head over to the Peabody Mansion. Chrissy and Autumn gave Ray a kiss before settling into their car seats.
“Did you miss me last night?” Ray asked grinning.
“I had dinner with Stephanie.”
“How is she?”
“Not great. She had her romantic sights on Greg Manning, but walked in on an intimate embrace with Barbara McCarthy over at the bookstore.”
“That could explain what he was doing there in the cookbook section.”
“I’m sure it has a lot to do with it. Do you think Barbara and Greg could be in on Oxnard’s death?”
“She’s not at the top of my suspect list.”
