- 24 - Autumn drove down Main Street. Chrissy enjoyed having the windows down and the late-September breeze blowing against her face. Jade’s Jewelry had a closed sign on it, the display window empty of its bounty. Jade’s sister from Florida liquidated the store’s contents and sold Jade’s house to pay her attorney bills and put some aside for Jade to use as needed. Jade Fisher sat in jail awaiting trial for the first-degree murder of Barbara McCarthy. The news sent a shockwave through Knollwood. She was in the same boat as Greg Manning, with the district attorney anticipating life sentences for both. Too bad they were in separate prisons.
