Chapter 6.

"Alexa!" He whispers.

I can see pleading in his eyes. Probably to stop me from being involved in this.

"I'm sorry about your parents Carson." I say honestly.

"Did you hear everything?"

I nod.

"I guess I'll leave you two to talk." Elise says excusing herself but I stop her.

"You started it Elise. Stay here!"

"Look, I was just trying to help my best friend. We were lucky to have you at the party that night, so I took that chance to give my best shot in helping him. I'm happy you agreed to it by the way, even though it sounded crazy and absurd."

"It did. It was a crazy dare." I answer and she chuckles.

"Truth is, the both of you are in love with each other but you just can't admit it."

"What?"

"Don't play dumb Alexa. You've loved Carson since the time you were dating Nolan. You didn't know it but I did. You hated me for dating him but truth is, we weren't really a couple. I was just pretending so that his parents could stop bugging him all the time."

"What!? You weren't a couple?"

"No! He's been in love with you all this while. As for your boyfriend Sam, if you truly loved him, you wouldn't have broken up with him for a game. So, I'm glad I helped you two find each other through my crazy idea of a dare. I'll be inside, if you need me."

With that, she goes back in and I'm left there confused.

I have been in love with Carson?

Kissing him made me feel some type of way but that can't be love.

"Don't mind her." Carson says snapping me out of my thoughts.

"First things first, you love me?"

"I have been, for a long time now." He says it in a husky whisper.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

"You were dating my best friend Nolan. And now Sam."

"Still, you should have said something."

"But I did."

"You did? When?"

"When I did this."

He bends a little and kisses me softly on my lips.

I don't return the kiss because my mind is kinda trying to process all this.

"I love you Alexa!" He confesses again.

"Carson, I am in all this because I thought it was just a game. Actually, I came out to think of ways of breaking up with you and ending this game."

"I understand." He answers taking a step away from me.

His voice is full of emotions and he looks so hurt.

"I'm still going to help you though. But please, let there be no wedding."

"Thank you Alexa! This means a lot."

"Are you ready to stand up to your parents right now?"

"More than ready."

He beams with excitement and I'm happy he is doing this.

You won't believe what happened.

Today must be the craziest days I've had in my life.

Convincing Carson's parents to call off the wedding was a hassle. Actually, they didn't agree with us at all.

So, we decided to go by the law.

It got dirty and messy and crazy and all that.

Basically, we had them both arrested.

We were fortunate to get a good lawyer through one of Carson's lecturers and she was saddened by everything Carson told her.

Seeing that she is a woman and a mother, she took it personally and the first charges against his parents were emotional abuse.

I don't know much about law, but what attorney Dana told us is, they will have atleast five years in jail for that.

Good thing, Carson had the documents he signed before joining college stating that they would disown him if he doesn't get married immediately after college.

In the document, they also stated that he has to bring home a girlfriend every Christmas for them to keep on supporting him and paying for his education.

Sick right?

Tell me about it!

After all that saga, we left his home and now, we are back to where it all started.

At Carson's house.

Another party.

Yes! Party on a week day.

This time, it's just for seven people.

Ava joined us. I haven't explained anything to her yet but I managed to convince her to come to the party.

We're hoping to tell them all about everything when we're all together.

She is not drinking.

Alcohol is bad according to her.

Mela couldn't miss this for the world.

Nolan and Billy are also here and Nolan is already drunk.

Then there's Elise, Carson and I.

"Alexa, Truth or dare?" Elise asks and I laugh before saying truth.

It's the first time I'm choosing truth. I always go for the dares.

"I'm not playing this game." Ava excludes herself.

"Nobody will force you to play, dear Ava!" Mela answers her.

"I'll give Carson the questions." Elise says surprising all of us.

"I have two questions for her."

"Just ask Carson." She says rolling her eyes.

"Okay, the first one. Alexa, do you love me? Even a little?"

Whoa!

I did not expect that question.

We've kind of grown close to each other since the encounter with his parents earlier, but... I didn't expect he would ask this.

"Uhm, oh God! Do I have to answer that?"

"Yup!" That's Mela.

I can tell she is excited for my answer.

I blow out a breath before speaking.

"Wow! Okay, Here it is. I'm gonna say it now... Whew! Yes I do, Carson."

"What?" Nolan is the first to speak.

Then Ava!

Mela squeals in excitement. I don't know when she started shipping for Carson and I, so I can't explain the excitement.

"The second question, will you please be my girlfriend? Officially now?"

"What the f**k Carson?" That's my answer.

"Please Alexa?" He pleads.

"Hold on! I know I'm not a part of this game but wait. Alexa! You love Carson? He wants you to be his girlfriend? Can you explain to me like a two year old, what in the world is happening here." That's Ava.

I think I expected that from her. She knows just how much I hate Carson so this, this must be really confusing to her.

"I think, I'll explain it to you guys." Elise offers to explain and I'm glad.

All of them listen keenly as she explains the situation. Especially why she gave me the dare she gave me last time.

There are a few gasps from the ladies when she talks about Carson's parents forcing him to marry after college.

She tells them everything apart from the part where we had them arrested.

"This is crazy!" Ava exclaims.

"It's insane." Mela adds.

"You didn't tell me about all this bro." Nolan complains.

Billy is staring at Carson all this while in confusion. I'm sure he doesn't know what to say about the situation.

"I know. Can she answer my question now?" An impatient Carson asks.

"I never saw myself saying this, but whatever her answer is, as her cousin and best friend, I approve of you Carson."

"Wow! That's new Ava. And yes, I will be your girlfriend Carson."

He gives me a smile leaning in to kiss me on my forehead, the tip of my nose, my cheeks, then on the lips.

This time I return the kiss.

As the kiss deepens, I realize just how much I love him. The dare had to happen, plus the kisses, for me to know that he is the one my heart always craved for.

"Alexa, I'm going to give you a dare." Nolan says and he is sort of, furious.

That makes us break off from the kiss.

"I just chose truth. It's another person's turn."

"For them to call you the queen of dares, you can't go a night without playing a dare. So here it is. Break up with Carson right now."

"What?"

"Dude! Are you crazy?" That's Carson.

"This is jealousy." Billy comments making all of us laugh.

"Nolan, if you were hoping for another chance with her, it's over." Mela tells him softly.

They all start arguing with him on why he should let go and move on.

"Guys stop!" I shout. "I might be the queen of dares, but I took my one last dare when I agreed to Elise's crazy dare. In as much as this is a game, I don't want to play dares ever again."

"What?" that's Mela.

"I mean it. I played the dare, I played it well, I got the prize!! Not a moment did I ever think that a dare would lead me to love, I found Carson. So No! I'm not going to break up with him Nolan."

"Wow!" Ava exclaims. "She defended him! Welcome to the family Carson, I can be a little bit strict, just so you know."

I laugh at that.

"Thank you Alexa. Thank you for choosing me." Carson tells me.

"Elise!" I call. "Can I crown you the next queen of dares? You earned it with the last dare with Billy."

"Definitely! Thank you retired queen. I think we can be friends."

I smile. "I think so too."

"This calls for a toast." Nolan says and we turn to look at him with raised brows. "Don't look at me like that, this was all a game. No hard feelings!"

"Cheers to a game that brought Alexa and Carson together." Ava says raising a tumbler with alcohol.

That's surprising!

"Cheers!!" We all say in unison and she is the first one to gulp down all the content in her tumbler.

"I'm never drinking again!!" She complains after the shot and we all laugh at her.

"I love you Alexa!" He whispers to me.

"I love you too Carson! I think this game is nice."

"Billy, Truth or dare?" Melanie shouts to catch our attention.

"Dare!"

"Kiss Ava. And please, make it long and memorable."

He doesn't hesitate to do that.

Ava doest resist!!
