I leave my father's hold immediately and rush past Leeland, but just as I reach out to grab Axe's
hand and pull him away, I'm knocked right off my feet.
I go flying to the side, my eyes on the sky as a bout of vicious growling and snapping ensues,
followed by a pained roar.
Axe.
Leeland pulls me up quickly, but I avoid his questions on whether or not I'm okay and turn to see
what happened. Who got hurt?
The beast has blood gushing out of his chest and shoulder, but he's still half standing. Not well
enough to keep fighting, but not enough to die.
Axe stands off of the ground, seeming not to be injured, but Alpha Menace that I learn is the one
who knocked me down, took the hit for Axe. Blood gushes out of his face, his right eye in
