"Why?"
"Mr. Morrison is attending tonight's gala with his wife. Your presence would be inappropriate."
Roselyn forced a smile and said,"Oh... That's great. I didn't want to go anyway..."
"Good."
Clutching her phone after the call ended, Roselyn bit her lip.
Her roommates exchanged uneasy glances.
"Roselyn, did your boyfriend ditch you?"
"I heard it's an international gala. Didn't he promise to introduce you to foreign entrepreneurs?"
Seeing the skeptical looks behind her, Roselyn forced a smile and said,"He has an important client to accompany. I shouldn't bother him."
She lowered her head and glanced at the dress she was holding, her expression somewhat dimming.
