Because of this incident, Enrique's attention was entirely on Vanessa, completely unaware of Roselyn's performance.
When the auction ended, Vanessa was about to leave but ran into Enrique and Roselyn.
"Vanessa, if you don't understand real estate, don't meddle in things."
Enrique said coldly, not sparing her any dignity.
Roselyn chimed in,"Yes, Vanessa. Because of your actions, Mr. Morrison lost 1.6 billion dollars."
Vanessa chuckled."You're mistaken, Ms. Sanders. I bought that land myself. What does it have to do with Enrique?"
Roselyn blurted out,"But that's 1.6 billion dollars..."
"Just a mere 1.6 billion dollars. For us, it's like building a shack. And for Ms. Sanford? Even less."
Xzavier's voice came from nearby."Right, Ms. Sanford?"
Vanessa glanced at Adrian beside Xzavier and replied casually,"1.6 billion dollars is just pocket change. I bought it for fun."
Roselyn's face paled.
1.6 billion dollars meant nothing to Enrique and even less to Vanessa!
She clenched her fists, feeling like a small-town girl among these people.
Adrian suddenly spoke."I heard Mr. Morrison is married. Is this young lady beside him Mrs. Morrison?"
Roselyn flushed red, stammering,"N... No..."
"This is my wife, Vanessa."
Enrique pulled Vanessa closer to him.
Vanessa tried to subtly shake off his grip, but Enrique held tight.
From the moment Adrian appeared, Enrique noticed the man's gaze lingering on Vanessa.
Men understood men. Enrique knew exactly what Adrian was thinking.
"Oh! So Ms. Sanford is Mrs. Morrison!" Xzavier slapped his forehead."Earlier, I saw Mr. Morrison laughing with this girl and thought she was Mrs. Morrison. She must be his secretary, then. No wonder she kept bidding for him."
Vanessa nearly laughed out loud.
Though she no longer cared about Roselyn or Enrique, hearing Xzavier's words still felt satisfying.
Roselyn's face turned pale, then green.
Enrique ordered,"Jamison, take Roselyn home."
"Yes, Mr. Morrison."
Xzavier grinned."We'll leave you to it. See you around!"
After they left, Vanessa finally yanked her hand free."Let go already."
Enrique hadn't expected her to resist.
In the past, Vanessa would cling to him like a shadow.
Tonight, she seemed entirely different.
Coldly, he said,"If this is your way of getting my attention, it's unnecessary."
Vanessa was speechless.
She wanted to argue but didn't know how to start.
Given how she'd obsessed over him before, he might have a point.
But she wasn't that person anymore.
Annoyed, she shrugged."Think whatever you want."
