Olivia's POV:
Lights. It was too bright. It made me feel woozy, I lifted my hand to touch my head, I noticed a drip, looking around the memory came rushing in. I remembered that a strange man said he was my mate, Liana confirmed it too; I was sure there was some sort of mistake somewhere, I needed to run,I needed to leave this place, I couldn't be here.
With shaky hands, I removed the drip forcefully, inhaling as the pain hit. I got to my feet, it felt wobbly as I started my way to the door, I took just 6fts steps when the strange man rushed in.
“What are you doing?!" He asked exasperated. He came closer trying to steady me as my knees shook.
“Why are you standing? Why is the drip removed?" He asked. I didn't reply, trying to walk again.
He came closer again, this time, touching my arm, shrieking as his touch made me feel faint. I felt dizzy, I was about to fall, he held me to steady me.
I shouted, panicking, sweat on my forehead. “Don't touch me please, don't hurt me" I say crying as I back into a corner, knee to my chest, hand over my head, trying to cancel the ringing in my head, like it would stop the big alpha from hurting me.
The man came closer again, not seeming to understand that I don't want him near me.
"I'm not going to hurt you little wolf, I'm your mate, I want to protect you." He says with his hand on my knee.
“Don't touch me, don't hurt me" I kept repeating as a mantra and the tears wouldn't stop. I was so scared, my chest was tight. Liana had hidden into my mind, the man's wolf was probably trying to talk to her. I kept rocking myself, repeating my words as the man looked distraught.
When he noticed that trying to soothe me wouldn't work, he clicked on the intercom repeatedly again, his hands closing to ripping his hair out.
The same woman, the doctor, came in again. “What's going on, Lucien?”---Lucien was the man's name, I took note— The man, Lucien pointed at me;
“I don't know Lena, she was trying to leave, I just wanted to talk to her, but she's scared of me, won't let me touch her; she kept repeating the same words. I don't want to hurt her, Lena" He finished.
He was lying, he wanted to hurt me. Hurt me like James did, he's an alpha, he'll hurt me. The thought made me shrink into the wall further. I looked around, looking for an escape route.
The doctor took easy steps towards me, like one approaching an injured dog. She looked at me with soft eyes, I felt almost safe with her, even Lena as she peeked her head out.
"We don't want to hurt you” she says standing at a far distance but a bit close. I didn't regard her as she came a bit closer.
"Easy, I swear I don't want to hurt you”. I looked towards the man, with a look that says I don't trust me. The doctor followed my gaze, she had an understanding look on her face.
“Oh, you want him to leave? He's scaring you?" I give a small nod.
She nodded in return, "If I send him away, will you let me treat again? Your drip is removed. There's blood dripping on the floor”.
I looked to the floor, truly, my blood was on the floor, in dots. I nodded again, answering her last question. Anything to make the alpha not hurt me.
"Don't worry, I'll make him leave, okay?" She says reassuringly.
Moving towards the alpha, they were far, I couldn't hear what they were saying. It seems like she was trying to convince him, he wasn't having it at first, Lena, the doctor pointed at me, talking some more. The alpha looked my way with haunted sad eyes as he left, on his way to open the door, he hesitated, looking back once more before he finally opened the door and left.
Breathing out in relief, I finally relaxed, my mind felt less tighter. The doctor came back to where I was, with the same slow precise steps.
“Are you ready to go to bed now?" she asks.
I looked at the bed, skeptical, I looked at the woman again.
“You don't have to worry, I just want to make sure you're fine"
I decided to believe her, trying to stand up as I fell again. Lena held me before I got to the floor. She helped me to the bed, helping me lie down. Connecting my drip, she checked my heart beat, nodding to herself, I watched as she did a check up.
When she was done, she took a step back. “You're fine, you just need a bit of rest, I'll need to keep you here for more check up”. Hearing that, I sat up immediately, "No! I can't stay, I need to leave, he'll hurt me!” I cried as I tried to remove the drip again.
"Wait, no”. Lena said, rushing towards me, using her soft hands to stop mine. "Calm down, little one”.
"No, no, you don't understand he'll hurt me” I say crying.
"Who? Lucien?” She asks, confused. I nodded.
"What? no, he won't hurt you, he's your mate, he's supposed to protect you” She says softly.
I shake my head repeatedly, not believing her. She takes my hand in hers, “What's your name? I'll explain some things"
“My name is Olivia", I say, barely recognizing my voice.
“Olivia" Lena repeated, “A beautiful name for you" She says, I look down at the compliment.
“Olivia, I don't know what you went through and I don't expect you to talk about it, but you see that man out there? he found you, saved you from the rogues, brought you here, why would you think he wants to hurt you?" She asks.
“That's what alphas do, they hurt omegas" I muttered.
“Oh, darling," she says with sympathy. “Alpha Lucien is the nicest alpha I've met. He's your mate, he just wants to know you"
“Mate?" I asked, tilting my head to the side with a confused look.
“Yes, darling, he's your mate" She says convincingly.
“But my mate rejected me. I don't have a mate, I don't understand"
"Yes, you both are second chance mates, you're to be there for each other.
My head felt woozy as she was talking, I was so confused. It seems Lena could see that as she said, “I'm just going to leave you to rest and process everything". She left.
“Liana, is he really our mate?" I asked my wolf.
“Yes, I can feel it, I can feel his wolf," she says. Our mates are the ones that can feel a new mate, as they were connected to the moon goddess, liana had no reason to lie.
“I'm tired Liana, my brain hurts, I need to sleep"
“Sleep," she muttered.
As I was drifting off, I felt him.
Lucian.
I felt the mate pull.
It was so strong, I couldn't deny it anymore.
I needed to survive this.
I couldn't let the mate bond deceive me.
I had to reject that alpha.
I was going to reject him.
