Finally, after choosing the right words in his head, Louis began to tell his story.
"Okay, listen to me Savana. Don't interrupt what I'm telling you, just listen." Louis asked seriously. Savana again just nodded.
"If I said I was David, would you believe it?" Louis's question made Cloey sit down.
"Don't joke around, Louis. I don't like it. My husband is gone, don't make a joke. I'm not touched at all." Savana was about to leave but Louis held her back.
"Listen to me first, Ana," Louis looked at Savana with a serious face.
"You remember I said that I had amnesia? That was before I met you, but when I met you slowly, my memories started to come back. That's why I was worried when you weren't seen in the office. I didn't. I've been taking my medicine for the last 2 weeks, and that's had a good effect on my memory." Louis turned Savana's body, who was facing away from him.
"And last night while sleeping in your room, my memory recovered completely. The wedding photo in your room made my head throb with pain until I fainted. I didn't get enough sleep last night, I woke up at 5 in the morning. And when I woke up, I remembered everything. Our accident 3 years ago, it wasn't just an accident. My family planned it. They took me and left you there to.....die." Louis's voice started to get hoarse, the man was crying.
"I was locked up in a cabin on a private island owned by my family. I remember it clearly, my dream was a picture of my life while I was there. How I tried many times to escape but never could. Until finally, my parents decided to do it plastic surgery on my face. And my memory was manipulated by the drugs they injected into my body. I was left in a coma for years, so that the effects were permanent. I woke up from the coma less than 2 months ago. And I lost all my memories." Louis continued telling the story with a red face holding back the turmoil in his heart.
His parents were so cruel, it was beyond his imagination. Her family were truly terrifying psychopaths, how could she be born into a family with such low morals?
"So you mean, you are my husband David?" Cloey asked in a trembling voice, the woman searched Louis' face looking for a glimpse of the man's eyes.
"Only if you admit it, Ana. But you are my wife forever, Barnes is not my real name. It is my godmother's name, Maria Barnes. She was the butler in my family's house, and I loved her very much. More than most in my life. It was Maria who took care of me since I was still a baby. That woman was even willing not to get married so she could pour all her love into me." Louis explained at length.
"So? Do you want to take me back, Savana Montez?" Louis kissed Savana's finger which still had their wedding ring on it.
"I remember, I bought this ring after collecting my salary for two months at the Snowden Company. I worked there as the main director, my father did not entrust me with a big responsibility. I didn't contact you because I lost my cell phone. And how smart I am, I don't remember your cell phone number." Louis laughed with amusement when he was angry for two months because he lost contact with Savana.
"Finally after two months I couldn't take it anymore, I missed you so much. I left home thanks to Maria's help. My godmother gave me some of her savings from working in my house for decades. And asked me to marry you and then off I went, and the small town of Carmel was my choice. I always love the smell of the sea, I love the beach." Savana sobbed then rushed to hug Louis tightly.
"Why are they so mean, they even threw me into the ravine that time." Savana complained in a sobbing voice. Louis rolled his eyes then gently pushed Savana's shoulder from his embrace.
"Tell me again, Ana. What did they do to you?" Louis's jaw clenched, his teeth chattering in anger.
"At the time of the accident I didn't really faint, I saw several people get out of a silver Rover Evoque and lift you up. I thought they would help, I was happy but I was weak. My stomach hurt a lot and I was trapped in the car." Savana was still sobbing softly.
"Two people approached me, they took me out in a rough way. They pulled me out of there, then dragged me to the edge of a cliff. I screamed for help in a very weak voice. But you just didn't move. They rolled my body inside. abyss, I surrendered. I thought I might not survive. Until I woke up in a hospital, and my stomach was flat. My daughter was born prematurely, but God has been so good to me. My Mercy is fine." Louis pulled Savana back into his arms. His heart ached to hear the cruelty of his parents.
"It was Joanna's family who saved me. Her father's car broke down right next to the ravine where I was thrown away. The blood splattered on the edge of the ravine made Uncle Greg Bennett curious, and he traced the trail until he fell. It turned out the ravine wasn't that deep. Uncle saw me got stuck on a large rock, then carried me with difficulty through the edge of another canyon. That's why Mercy and I have been able to live on Catalina Island all this time." Savana looks so emotional remembering the bad memories 3 years ago.
"I'm sorry darling, I heard you at that time. It's just that I couldn't move my body at all, someone injected something into me when I was put in the car. I heard you screaming my name. And that's what I always dream about every night after I woke up from my coma." Both of them shared sad stories with tears in their eyes.
"Come on, don't cry anymore. Look at your swollen eyes, Mercy will be angry with me later." Louis's teasing lightened their emotional mood.
Savana hurriedly wiped away her tears, "Oh my God! I forgot Mercy was alone in the next room. I wanted to see her first," Louis held Savana's hand when the woman was about to get out of bed.
"Take a shower first, I've told someone to prepare clothes for you in the cupboard. Choose what you like, I'll look after our daughter." Louis kissed Savana's forehead then put on his clothes and rushed to check on his daughter in the next room.
Savana's heart warmed when she heard the words Louis said. So far, only he and his adopted siblings have called Mercy my daughter. Now there is Louis, her David, her husband.
Savana rushed to the bathroom, she wanted to join her two favorite people. Share stories, jokes and laughter. Just like Mercy always said, she wanted to have a father, only her father. And now Savana is starting to understand. Even though she didn't fully understand what her daughter always said.
