Chapter Nineteen The Rise of Derek It’s never too late to stand up for yourself Catrina sat in her office. She was in a state of turmoil; what had happened to her son? Yesterday he arrived back from God knows where, refused to speak to her—spending time on his phone instead. He even went out again without saying where. This was a Derek she hadn’t seen before. She paced and wondered what her son was up to when a note slipped under her door. Canteen tea break, don’t be late—son. She read the note several times; it was his handwriting. Why a note?
