It was time to make my move before they made theirs. Enrique’s bounty hunters were getting closer. I needed someone on my side for a change. Madeline seemed to be a great ally. Although, I still wasn’t sure what she wanted from me, and quite frankly, I hadn’t given the idea much thought.
After the incident at the church and my run-ins with Beatrice, who had tried to kill me twice, I figured it was time to bargain. Perhaps the magical young woman, Madeline, could be useful. And just maybe I could bargain for my life using her. Still, she had disappeared right after the raid in the motel. One minute, she was beside me; the next, I was standing alone holding the bag.
After stashing the money, I made my way across town. Madeline might be around, watching over me as she had. At least I’d hope
