Amara woke up suddenly in the middle of the night, her arm instinctively reaching out to her left side, searching for the familiar warmth of Arthur. The bed was cold and empty. She frowned, feeling the emptiness of the space around her. She sat up, glancing around the dark room, and the hollow feeling in her chest deepened.
She slid out of bed, grabbing one of Arthur's oversized shirts that hung loosely around her body as she pulled it on.
