"So when are you coming back to Pineham?" I asked her when Rita disappeared to go to the toilet and Haze excused himself to answer his phone.

"Um...well...since this show was like an assessment of my course...and assessments usually happen after the end of a topic. And topics end just before the holidays...right...?"

"Yeah..." I said wanting her to carry on.

"That means I'm coming home for the summer!" she exclaimed.

"No kidding? That's awesome! I can't wait now!" I replied.

"Really? You're that excited?" she whispered shyly.

"Why wouldn't I be?" I asked.

"Maybe because I would have thought you didn't care," she muttered, looking at me through her eyelashes. "But maybe you do,"

I smiled. "You know what? I really do."
