Chapter Two
Yvette's point of view.
I have only been rejected once and by an Alpha— I wouldn't let that rejection define me.
“I have an offer for you.” Alpha Zach began when I entered his room.
“You already said that.” My voice was cold, sharp and rude, nothing like a tone I've ever used on him before. It was the tone of an Omega who now had nothing left to lose.
“I did not!” He retorted matching the same tone I used on him. “Lindsey did. What I want you to do is to cast your emotions aside and think thoroughly about this, it's something that can elevate your position in the pack after…” he trailed off and took a sip of the whiskey in his glass. Diabolical, make me go through the worst pain ever possible then offer me solace like it's something I have long needed.
“What is it?” I asked more out of curiosity than interest. The room smelled of Atlas Cedarwood, a scent I dislike even more now.
He sighed, “I want you to bear my child.”
I chuckled, maybe I didn't hear him right, “you want me to be your breeder?” I questioned him.
“It's the same thing but if you put it like that, I won't stop you.” He shrugged.
I nodded my head in realization, to be honest, I didn't know why I had come here. Probably, I was still reeling from the rejection and in the past five minutes that I had used to get here, my head suddenly became sharper.
“What do you say?” He asked me when I didn't give an immediate answer.
“No!”
Zach blinked. Like he didn't recognize me.
“No, you wouldn't do it or no, you would do it.” He said edging closer, “I don't think you understand but you don't have a choice, Yvette. I'm your Alpha, I own you, I tell you what to do and what not to do and if I want you to bear my child or be my breeder — whatever you call it — that is exactly what you're going to do!” As he spoke, he got closer and closer to me until my body hit the wall and he pressed his body against mine.
That wasn't true, none of that was true, he doesn't own me, I know that but his words had succeeded at causing a tear in the veil I had wrapped around my heart.
I swallowed, feeling nauseated by the scent of him and asked, “Does Luna Lindsey know this is why you called me in?” That would seem unlikely but Lindsey had proven times without number that she can be unpredictable. The only thing I could read correctly about her was that she did not like to share Alpha Zach.
“She suggested it to me and you should thank her for it.” I scoffed, thank her for it? Like I'm going to.
“Maybe you should take the night to consider, ‘cause your work starts tomorrow.” He said releasing me.
I let out a breath, the sudden wave of fresh air feeling surreal on my skin.
“You can leave.” He ordered and I don't spend a second more in that room, so much for a night that was supposed to be blissful.
I still had work to do over there in Lindsey's room, and it wasn't going to be as pleasant as whatever just went on between Alpha Zach and me.
Lindsey was tying her hair up in a bonnet when I walked into the room.
“You're late!” She snapped at me without even looking away from the mirror.
“It's not my fault.” I retorted. Her scowl shifted into a frown.
“Why did the Alpha call you in?” She asked me, shifting in her seat. I could tell she felt uncomfortable, worse, she felt Alpha Zach and I had done something behind her back which in my present predicament, I found unfeasible.
“He wants me to be his breeder.” She adjusted and I knew that wasn't the answer she expected to hear.
“I mean… the other reason, the reason he wouldn't let me in.” Oh right!
“He wants me to be his breeder, it's very much the same.” I watched her face blush with anger in a split second.
“Do you think I'm a fool?” I didn't see the makeup box coming at me, not until it hit me square in the jaw.
“I'm not going to ask you again, what happened in there? Did the Alpha fall for a rabid dog like you?” She flared at me, I didn't give her an answer, I wasn't going to give her that satisfaction. Instead, I was going to make her feel unsettled, make her writhe like a reptile in pain and more importantly, make her think whatever she wanted to.
“Oh.” When she didn't get the answer she wanted from me, she looked away, tying the belt of her night robe properly, “I've always known he had such bad taste.”
“I wouldn't insult myself like that if I were you.” I inserted picking the makeup box from the floor, Lindsey ignored me and went to the bathroom. I placed the box back on the table, my eyes catching a pair of identical daggers still in their sheaths.
Lindsey returned a while later after splashing some water on her face, I can tell that by the drops of water falling from her forehead.
“Pass me that dagger.” She commanded, I picked one up from the table and pointed it towards her, sheath on and everything.
She raised a brow at me refusing to take it,
“What do you want me to do?” I rolled my eyes inwardly at her. She had these silent commands that were usually hard to interpret.
“Unsheath it?” She said like it was a normal thing to unsheath a dagger before handing it over to someone else.
I did as she asked and pointed it to her with the hilt facing her just so she doesn't find any faults in this.
“You hold the hilt.” She said to me, I shook my head.
“Why should I do that?” I've never questioned her before but for this, I would, why should I? Instead of getting an answer, she gave me a long dragging sigh.
“Maybe I should do this myself.” She lunged towards me, taking the dagger and placing the hilt in my hands. Then she grabbed me by the arm and rammed the blade into her stomach with my hands still wrapped around the hilt.
“Let's see how you escape this.” She grinned at me before an ear-splitting scream tore out of her throat. I instinctively let go of the dagger and made a run for it, I was too late, the guards burst in through the door, one look at me and Lindsey's body lying on the ground covered in cold blood.
“I swear I wasn't trying to harm her.” I tried to defend myself.
“Like you can make me believe that.” The burly guard pinned my hands down behind my back, then he gestured for the other guard to get Alpha Zach.
“You, come with me.” He growled, pulling me up with all his strength as he jabbed me forward.
“You have to listen to me, I didnt hit her!” My feet refused to move, daring him to calm down and listen to what I had to say. He didn't mind and the next thing I knew, I was being hauled down the corridor in the most disgraceful manner ever possible.
I buckled in his hold, “You really don't have to do this!” I spat. My hands hit the cold floor of the dungeon cells that minute, realizing my chance was slipping. I buckled up and ran at him frantically, pushing the gates and clawing at his wrists. He shoved me backwards with a single punch and rammed the cell gates into place.
“You should save all your explanations for when you're in front of Alpha Zachary and Gamma Cooper!” He lobbed before leaving me alone on the cold bare floor.
