Chapter IMy name is Jason Black. The story I am about to tell you is of my boyhood friend, Adam Hacker, of a mystery and an adventure. Mostly it is a tale of either a surreal dream or apocryphal reality. The reader needs to decide.
In my hands is a letter I've just received from Adam, it arrived in a small package that also contained a CD. The package was mailed from Shelby, Montana where he now resides, the CD is a recording of Adam playing with some local musicians he met in Shelby, and the music that I'm hearing is an original song Adam wrote and played the flute on. It's a live performance, taped at a local bar in the town where he lives.
