Chapter 45The phone rang. Rachael knew it would be Matthew again. Each time he left messages, his voice was cheerful, positive and reassuring. He wanted to meet with her to go over work to be done on her house. He was eager to get started. Ignoring the phone, she walked into another room wishing not to see his face or hear his voice again.
She wasn't about to return his calls. How dare he pretend nothing had changed between them. Was he so unconscionable as to have no guilt about what he did, and right in her own home? She agonized over how to bring in another contractor.
