Inside the sanctuary, they held hands and prayed silently in their own ways. Rachael's eyes were closed. Tears poured silently from between her lashes and ran down her face and neck. After a while, Mona slipped out of the room. Rachael returned to the waiting area and stood quietly at the windows. Mona and Cameron slugged down black coffee and consoled one another.
