Chapter 14“You'll like me,” he said with a most conceited grin. Then as quickly, he was serious again. “I need to understand what that person inside of you is trying to tell me.” The tension was too much. Rachael began to feel the same apprehension she experienced in therapy. She needed to do something to relieve it. “Do you want to learn everything tonight?” she asked with another feigned smile. She felt cornered, wanted the conversation to end. She wished she were home alone. “Can't happen all at once,” he said. “I don't intend to let it drop though.” He studied her. “This is something we have to get past, if we're to have a spontaneous relationship.” He was talking long term. What could he be seeing in her? And so soon. It wasn't the house, or her inheritance, or anything like that.
