Refusing to ride side saddle I mounted my horse, a beautiful black Standardbred stallion with white socks named Duke and kicked my coat over his back. When Theodore was astride his horse I dug my heels in and Duke began to canter across the green ahead of me. I could hear Theodore shouting for me to wait for him but I couldn't, I was free and only dug my heels in harder. Duke neighed and began to gallop. The wind blew in my face and around my neck like it did when I rode at home. Small spackles of rain hit my face and made me smile. We rode for an hour and I just needed to feel the wind blow through my hair. 'Come on Duke! Faster!' I whispered and crouched down low to his head and held on tight. I heard the hooves of Theodore's mare behind me and began to slow to a canter after a while.
