My Secret

Chapter 3

I fell asleep fairly quickly after we got on the road. I had too much on my mind and figured a nap would pass the time much faster than sightseeing from the back seat. This is a 6-hour trip and all I am thinking about is what this new place is going to be like. I am really nervous about meeting this step-brother I am going to have. Drake told me his name was Damien. I have heard that he has a bit of a temper from Drake. He says it is from not having his mate yet and being so stressed over becoming alpha soon. I wonder if he looks like his dad or not. Lilly met him at the last meeting of Alpha's and said that he is very easy on the eyes and she is sure that I will just love him. I am not quite sold on the idea of having a brother, whether it be step or not.

Sleeping in this truck is not the most comfortable and all I am doing is dreaming about this black wolf again. I started to wake up and I can hear Lilly and Drake whispering something about me. I continue to act like I am asleep to see if I can hear anything they are talking about, to see if I can find out at least where we are going.

"I am worried about how safe she is going to be now that we are moving into a pack. I know that she is special and that she needs to be protected. I wish her mother had told me more so that I knew how to keep her safer now. All I know is that she told me when she turns 18 everything will change and her life will be in great danger if she falls into the wrong alpha's hands." Lily says with worry in her voice. Drake replies, "I know you are worried about her, but she is going to be under my pack's protection and we will not let anything happen to her. I have already briefed my warriors that she is special and needs the utmost protection at all times. There will always be a warrior around her in secret. She will not know that they are there watching her. I will make sure of it. They know that we have something special coming into the pack and I

trust them with my life and that nothing will happen to her." They are now sitting quietly. Lilly is now looking out the window, looking like she is deep in thought. Well, that is not what I was expecting to hear. I did not learn anything that I wanted to know. It sucks that I will always have a guard over me. Guess I will have to test these warriors out for myself to see if they are as good as Drake says they are. I just might have to play some games with them. They have no idea who they are going to be "protecting."

Damien's POV

I can't believe my dad is marrying someone new, let alone a human. I get she knows about werewolves and our world and has for her entire life, but that does not mean that we need to move her into the pack. I am glad that my dad is happy, but why did he have to do this with a human? He hasn't been the same since my mom died and neither has the pack. I am not sure if a human is suited to be Luna. Well, at least it will only be for a short time since I am supposed to become alpha next week. How bad can things get messed up in a week?

My dad is heading home today with his new wife and her daughter. I can't believe that I am 24 years old and having a step-sister. My wolf, Shadow, is very agitated today. I can't seem to figure out why. He is usually on the more cranky side, but never like that. He has been on edge ever since dad went to get his new family. They should be here in a few hours. Dad left me in charge of the pack and preparing a room for my new sister. I asked the Omega's, who usually clean the packhouse, to prepare a room. Unfortunately, my dad insisted that her room be on the alpha floor. The only room left is the one across the hall from mine, since I still haven't moved into the Alpha Suite. Dad moved out a couple of months ago into a small house to prepare for Lily coming.

Dad insists that I am on my best behavior and welcome these girls with a smile on my face. He knows my temper well and I am going to try to be friendly. I have been on edge today, knowing they are only a couple of hours away now. My wolf is getting increasingly agitated and ancy. He will not talk to me and it is aggravating me.

"Shadow! What is wrong with you?! You are driving me crazy! Tell me what is bothering you!" I yelled at Shadow.

He replies, "I can't tell you what is wrong yet. You will find out in due time."

"Shadow! That does not help at all. How am I supposed to welcome them when I am feeling this way!?"

"You will soon find out," Shadow replies and retreats into my head, now ignoring me.

I sighed heavily, trying to calm down. They should be here soon. I should check to make sure they got that room done and finished setting up the house dad moved into. I found the Omega I assigned to dad's house and asked her if it was ready. "Yes, alpha, the house has been prepared. All the bedding was changed, the refrigerator was stocked, and the rest of the furniture was moved in. It should all be up to your father's standards, sir," the omega, Angie stated proudly. I thanked her and went to find the other omega, Lisa, to see if she had finished my new sister's room. As I was making my way to the third floor, I started thinking to myself: I didn't even know her name. Well, I will find out very soon, I suppose. They should be here anytime now. I find Lisa leaving the room as I walked up the hall. She briefly greets me and states "The room has been finished; you can check to see if it is up to your standards. If you find anything that you would like to be changed, let Grace know and she would be happy to help you. I have to go check on the kitchen staff to see the progress of dinner. Your dad mind linked me, saying they are about 20 minutes away." and she quickly made her way down the hall.
