CHAPTER 41 | Aiden –––––––– Even after Parker’s taillights dissolve into dark, I can’t bring myself to go back inside. Our argument is on repeat in my head, but it’s her expression—eyes shining with tears—more than anything that I can’t shake. Every time I close my eyes, I see her behind my lids. Every time I take a breath, I realize she took part of me with her. There’s no going back from this. She won’t be able to look at me the same way after knowing I let the twins go. I won’t be able to look at me the same way either. The right thing is hard. That’s what makes it the right thing. I do one last barn check before heading back upstairs.
