Chapter 16Romeo was in knots and, to distract himself, he read to Emeric. They’d eaten pancakes with warm peaches—not the best he’d had, but not far from—and now he was reading a story about a woman fighting vampires. What Emeric found funny was that the vampires’ eyes glowed green. He laughed every time it was mentioned, and it was mentioned often. When the kitchen door opened, Romeo squealed, but Emeric didn’t move a muscle, indicating he’d known Ciar was coming.
