My eyes darted around the cluttered room. Boxes piled high. Sports equipment. An old trophy case. And there—hidden behind an open box, a green bottle. Some kind of cleaning solution, probably.
I let my body go slack, pretending to give up. Tyler's grip loosened just a fraction as he leaned closer, his other hand reaching for my waist.
"See? That's better. Just relax, baby. I'll make you feel—"
Crack.
The bottle shattered against his skull. Glass exploded everywhere, and Tyler let out an agonized scream.
"Ugh! f**k!"
He crumpled to the ground, clutching his head. Dark and thick blood seeped through his fingers, He didn't move or make a sound.
My entire body shook. I stared down at him, at the shards of green glass glittering in his hair, at the pool of blood spreading across the concrete floor.
"Hello?" I nudged him with my foot. Nothing. "Tyler?"
He was out cold.
"Thank f**k," I breathed, stepping over his limp body.
And then I looked up.
Right into the security camera mounted in the corner.
No. No, no, no.
I took a hesitant step closer, squinting at the lens. It was covered in dust—a thick layer of it—and there was a small black mark across the glass, like someone had deliberately vandalized it.
Somebody had done that on purpose.
I said a silent prayer of thanks to whoever they were.
When I pushed open the storage room door, Elena and Nina were waiting, their faces pale with worry.
"What's going on?" Elena demanded. "We heard a crash and—"
I shushed her, grabbing both their arms and pulling them away from the door. "Nothing. I just need to be alone right now, okay? I need some space."
"Okay, but you're shaking." Nina's voice was tight with concern. "What happened in there?"
I was shaking? I looked down at my hands—they were trembling violently, shards of green glass still clinging to my fingers.
"It's fine." I forced a smile. "It's nothing. I just need Mason. I'll talk to you guys later."
"Should we follow you?" Elena grabbed my arm. "You look like you need people around you right now."
"No. No, I need to be alone." I pulled away, walking as fast as I could toward the parking lot. "I'll text you."

The drive to Mason's campus was a blur. I don't remember getting into my car, or pulling out of the lot, or navigating the familiar route through town. I was running on autopilot, my mind still stuck in that storage closet, still seeing Tyler's bleeding body on the floor.
I finally pulled into the Firehawks' parking lot when the sky was pitch black. I grabbed one of Mason's jackets from the backseat—I'd "borrowed" it weeks ago and never returned it—and wrapped it around myself. It smelled like him. Like home.
The entrance to the hockey dorm was unlocked, which was unusual. The building was silent, no music blasting, no loud voices. Mason's teammates were famous for their all-night parties, but tonight there was nothing.
Probably a game night, I thought, though that didn't make sense. They had a game tomorrow.
I took the elevator to the top floor, my anxiety climbing with every floor. The doors slid open onto a thick red carpet that muffled my footsteps completely. I turned the corner toward Mason's room—
And froze.
Becca, Chloe and Tiffany.
They were still in their cheer uniforms. But instead of pompoms, they held whips and paddles.
And in the middle of them—
Mason.
My boyfriend.
What the hell was Mason doing wearing my cheerleading uniform?
The blue and white skirt was hiked up around his waist. The crop top stretched tight across his chest, the fabric straining against his broad shoulders. He had a collar around his neck—a black leather one with a silver ring—and a leash trailing from it, held loosely in Becca's manicured hand.
My chest tightened like someone had wrapped their hands around it and squeezed.
Mason was on his knees, his body leaning into Becca's touch as she ran her fingers through his hair.
"Look at you," Becca cooed, her tone dripping with mock affection. "So pretty in her uniform. You wear it better than she ever did."
Chloe laughed, twirling her paddle in the air. "He really does. That skirt was wasted on Isla. She never had the legs for it."
"Or the attitude," Tiffany added, stepping closer to Mason and running her hand down his chest. "He's got that desperate little puppy thing going on. It's kind of hot, actually."
Becca yanked on the leash, and his head jerked up. "What do you think, sweetheart? Are you ready to f**k the three hottest girls in the school? Everything you've ever wanted while roleplaying in your worthless girlfriend's clothes?"
Mason's voice was desperate. "Yes. f**k yes. I've always wanted you, Becca. Isla is useless when it comes to s*x. She can't satisfy me. I don't mind an orgy with the three of you."
"Good," Chloe said, chuckling. "Get up and undress us."
