He doesn’t need to know you’re her daughter but he can tell us what her crime was, why the Lycans hunted her down, and why she was killed. Depending on his response, we’ll decide what information to give him.” She nodded, understanding, accepting the plan. “Come on,” I said, rising. “Let’s go to the lake.” She stood and followed me without hesitation. We hurried through the trees, and on impulse, I decided we should shift run free before resting by the water. I let Nigel take over, bones cracking and reshaping, the familiar rush flooding my senses. Across from me, Venessa shifted into Nyla. And I froze. Nyla looked different. Bigger. Stronger.
