Though older he still cut a fetching and imposing impression of vibrant manhood in comparison to her more prosaic Far Eastern femininity, but that was where any advantage he had over her ended and where her superior financial clout – clout he needed to take advantage of so desperately – placed her in a position of superiority regarding him.
