Chapter 27

A water dragon similar to his swallowed the fire dragon attached to its master and swept all the bones in the way. It then twisted its head and slithered to them with its jaw opened wide. "Get behind me." Luke pushed him behind. He controlled the scattered bones with his hands. They gathered together and formed a wall in front of them. Luke's feet slid due to the impact. The dragon tore the bones but it soon been cut in half before it could reach its prey. Earlier when the wall of bones broke off, Yulian already prepared a counter attack and just its head showed, he let out a thin line of fire that tore the water dragon apart. Yulian made use of the water dropping down like rain from the destroyed dragon, he darted to the opposing side. Tim sensed his arrival and was about to escape from him but it was too late. "Bind." One simple word from him and Tim felt his body stiffened like an enormous hand had gripped his whole torso. He could not lift his two hands nor use his ability. No, Tim's not the maker of the circle. His binding spell did not only limits a person's body movements when struck, but it will also bind the inner core making him unable to use any of his abilities. That includes severing his connections from the magic circle. Judging that the sinister circle was still intact in the air, Tim's not the owner but his brother. "What did you do to me?" Tim struggled from the bindings but it was fruitless. "You won't easily break through the bindings, Timothy Dan." The boy grew quiet at hearing his name. "You made me look for you for weeks, you know Emilia's worried about you." Tim sneered through the covers of his hood. "You should have minded your own business, Albertine. Now, you will meet your end here and there's nothing you could do to escape." "Oh my. Didn't you know, as long as I kill the maker of the circle everything will be back to normal." "You...!" Tim had an incredulous look on his face. "You can see it?" Yulian did answer but smiled at him. "Just stay put here while I deal with your brother. I will sort you out later." "You're no match to him!" But his shout only made into the air as Yulian disappeared from his very sight. A sense of warning grew inside him. Yulian was not what he seemed. He knew Yulian was an elementalist but the skills he showed only a magus could do. But it's impossible! As young as he is to be able to do all that only one person in history had achieved those and that magus had long passed the threshold of death. Could he be the person that their master had foreseen to come and hinder their plans? The person that the god of light had sent to stop Calis from reviving? Yulian unaware of the thoughts behind him made use of the stone walls created by Tim's brother and teleported a few blocks away from him. The serpent had long been gone probably Leo had returned it to its dimension. The lion was all bruised up, its sharp horn got broken in two but its opponent still standing, and not one injury can be seen on his body. Leo on the other hand had a shattered sword in his hands and the same state as his beast. He could see that the circle has begun to affect the twins. Soon, those two will be the same for everyone. Luke had not recovered and kneeled on one knee as he panted. He could no longer summon his undead. Their life force was being sucked upward into the circle. The twins though could not see it, they felt the invisible force stealing away their strength. They have to hold on until help arrives. But from the current condition, they won't last for long. Leo's summoned beast was now slowly disintegrating so he had to return it to its home, leaving him defenseless. Luke last saw how his brother being surrounded by small stones in the air before passing out. Yulian saw how Leo was left without any weapon to defend himself and he looked like he had reached his limit. Tim's brother took advantage and launch an attack with a series of fist size stones at Leo. A wave of fire came in between them, scorching the stones as they fell to the ground. He then teleported at Leo's side just as he fell. He took him by his arm and teleported again. He brought him to his twin's side. A barrier was erected by him to protect them from being a casualty. "The rat from last time." Theodore Dan was not fazed by his sudden appearance. "It is good that you are here. You will be the first to witness the destruction of the world and the first to suffer a cruel death!" "Not if I kill you first." Theodore laughed maniacally like hearing a joke. "Kill me? Boy, you better look around you! Everyone's dead!" "Brother!" Tim who had been struggling with his bindings finally got his brother's attention. "You useless fool! What are you standing there for! Catch this rat!" "I-I can't! He's a magus! He did something to me!" Something dawned on Theodore, not caring about his brother's situation. "A magus?! This is getting better! A magus as my first sacrifice to Calis!" "Boy! You better offer your own head if you want a painless death!" "I'm sorry to burst your bubble but Calis won't be able to come and grant your wishes. Ever." After he said that, he ran towards his opponent but teleported in the middle and appeared in the air. "Fires at my will," he began to chant. Numerous blazing fireballs formed around him. "Heaven's fall." In the night sky, if one would look up, he would see a beautiful but frightening meteor shower at a close range. Those dreadful fires came pouring like rain towards one person. Theodore in panic tried to cover himself with stone walls but the tremendous force of the attack punched through his barrier. Yulian came down after his attack, dust, and a cloud of smoke covered the whole observatory. However, he could feel that he was alive as he did not mean to kill him for now. He had to extract the dark energies inside him first and do some interrogation. He pulled the debris covering Theodore with his hand without touching them. "Brother!" Tim cried on not seeing his brother's body through all that mess. Yulian had to knock him out with a spell. It won't be nice if he'll see what he will do with his older brother. Theodore was lying sideways with his back facing him. His cloak was burnt and some charred skin can be seen through the wholes of his cloth. He squatted to check his condition but the rolled on its own back, revealing a knife impaled on the left side of his chest. Theodore laughed upon seeing his expression, not caring about the blood pouring out from his mouth. "You won't get what you want, magus. I'll die knowing those bastards will suffer a thousand times more than I had..." His eyes dimmed. Yulian did not have to check to know that he's dead. Theodore had sacrificed himself before he could be killed, one of the conditions in completing the blood circle. If a person wanted a perfect and faster circle, he could offer his own life to the circle. But only those who have the deepest desire and are out of their mind would do that. And he did not expect that Theodore was both. A tremor ran through the whole manor, the symbols above them started to glow fiercely and were linking together. 'It is not too late. We only have one choice now." "Mn. I know what to do." Yulian closed his eyes and concentrated his energies. His hands joined together forming symbols. Each finished symbol would materialize in the air and float above him. Those were created by Ignis remnants of pure light from his shattered core. By the time he was finished those white symbols had formed a circle with Yulian in the center. With his hands, he controlled his magic circle and slowly expand it. Cold sweats broke out from his temples, he felt in his hand like he was carrying a full grown adult elephant. The sinister symbol above started to merge and as his own had expanded to the same size, he immediately raised his hand, and the white circle unhurriedly tried to insert itself into the original circle. The two clashed and sparks of tiny lightning came out when these two forces made contact. Yulian almost bit his lip in supporting the circle and he added his own force to the circle to make it withstand the opponents. He gave one more push and the white circle fully integrated into the original.
