Chapter 5: Living with the Devil

“We have arrived at your new residence,” said the butler.

As I looked out the window of the car, I couldn't help but admire the facade of my new home. The front yard was spacious, with a pathway, a wide garden, and a large fountain in the center. It's not just your typical house that you see everywhere. You can see its elegance and its beauty. You would really think that it belongs to a wealthy person.

But right now, I don't know what's real anymore. My family is going bankrupt.

Yet, to save it, they chose me to marry into the wealthy family of their acquaintance. And that child of theirs will be the one to bring suffering into my life now, and I couldn't do anything about it.

Our butler opened the door for us and accompanied me to the new house. And when I stepped out of the car, the strong breeze slapped me. My insides were trembling, and I was anxious. Suddenly, the maids escorted me inside. Several maids were carrying my belongings.

“This will be your new home, Madam. I will tour you here so you can see where your bedroom will be. Where there are libraries with books you can read. There's a mini-museum-” The butler continued to speak, but I didn't listen to him anymore. Instead, I lowered my gaze to the floor as I stood there lost in thought. After hours of touring the entire house, I just sat down in the living room, contemplating what will happen now.

“Madam, we'll go ahead and set up here. Your mother and father will visit you here soon. But for now, you need to rest here because the journey was long. And please refrain from attempting to leave because, according to your parents, there are CCTV installments here and there are family security guards stationed in every corner.”

I just nodded at what our butler said, even though it was draining to hear everything he said. When they left and I was left alone in the house, I took out the medicine from my pouch. I then hesitantly took it. I couldn't help but cry as I read the medicine that would help me terminate the pregnancy I'm carrying now.

I mean, what's the point if I continue the pregnancy? There's no hope for my relationship with Xander anymore. He betrayed me…with my own twin sister.

I don’t know if Rain knows about Xander and my relationship with him but I just hope she won’t tell our parents if ever. I’m already suffering too much, what else does she wants?

I took a deep breath and took the medicine. It's been a week already since I found out I was pregnant, so I know that with just one take of this, the baby will be aborted. I was trembling, my whole being, as I took it.

When I woke up, I looked around and the man I was supposed to be with in this house was still not here, so I decided to just cook and clean. While doing so, I felt a pain in my abdomen, and I wasn't surprised or shocked when I saw that I was bleeding. The dosage of the medicine I bought was strong, and it's taking effect now even though it's heavy on my heart and against my will to do this, but this is the right thing to do especially if ever my parents will find out about this, it will only complicate my life more, so I need to salvage the situation.

After several days, I am still alone here. I don't really care about Augustus, but at some point, I wonder if he intends to stay here. Because for me, even though it's really against my will and my desire, I really have no more fight left in me. I'm just getting weaker, crying for days, feeling sorry for myself, but I can't do anything. Because what's my fight compared to my parents. So even if it's against my will, I have no other choice.

The next day, I thought it would be another typical day where I'm alone again. But I was surprised when the door suddenly opened and he arrived. And the moment our eyes met, I sensed the intimidation, the dominance in his aura.

I lowered my gaze to what he was wearing. He was wearing a suit. He probably came straight from his work, from the company. I opened my mouth, even though I didn't have anything to say to him or I didn't plan to open up a conversation. But before I could do that, he just went straight to the second floor of the mansion.

I just sighed. But somehow, I feel like I'm not alone now because I know he's here.

From time to time, when he's here, I would glance at him. And he was just minding his own business as if he didn't notice me, as if I wasn't beside him or as if he was alone. He treats me like air every time he passes by me. And he's just here holding his laptop and typing away. At first, I didn't care anymore, I just let him be. But when night came, he left, and I couldn't help but ask, "Where are you going?"

"You don't care," he answered me, and then he left. I just let it go, because indeed, this is just an arranged marriage. We shouldn't really care about what we do in each other's lives.

However, when it was time for me to sleep and rest, I heard the door downstairs opening, and I heard a loud bang. In my shock, I grabbed my night robe and went out of the room.

When I reached the stairs, I saw what looked like two people in the living room. At that moment, I thought I was hallucinating or that I got robbed. However, when I realized that there are security guards outside who are always vigilant, I suddenly felt a chill that it was Augustus.

I turned on the light, and what I saw felt like being drenched with cold water, both in what I heard and what I saw now.

“Oh yeah, baby, that's it!”

“Damn it, you're so delicious!”

Augustus brought a woman here into our house. They are having s*x on our sofa.

“What are you doing?!” I couldn’t help but shout. My emotions are mixed now.

He stopped, but it was only brief because he continued what he was doing. Even the woman he brought wasn’t unbothered by the fact someone is here!

“I-I will call your parents!” This was too much for me!

But before I could do so, he suddenly spoke, making my whole body freeze in fear.

“Go ahead, and I will tell them about your ex-boyfriend and the abortion.”
