Scene 1 takes place in the Friar's cell. Friar Laurence and Paris enter the scene discussing Paris's upcoming wedding. Friar Laurence tries to convince Paris to take longer than the two days. Juliet enters the scene and cleverly pushes aside Paris's attempts to speak of the wedding. Paris leaves the scene. Alone Juliet tells the Friar that she has no wish to marry Paris and would rather kill herself. The Friar then suggests that Juliet take a potion that will make hear appear dead and that he will let Romeo know of the plan. Scene 2 takes place in the Hall of the Capulet's House. Capulet, Lady Capulet, the Nurse, and two servants enter the scene discussing serving plans. Juliet enters the scene and tells her father that she has decided she is happy to marry Paris.
