Slowly the majestic wolf before her, with is glistering black fur, was transforming before her eyes. Cali hand went to her mouth to try suppress the shocked gasp that escaped her lips.
The beautiful strong and huge wolf was slowly turning human. She saw the fur disappear, it looked like it was retracting back into his skin, the long claws were withdrawing back into his hands, and the yellow eyes were being replaced by the beautiful hazel glare that only belonged to one man. Ezra.
Cali's head started to spin. She felt light headed and a cold sweat started to form on her head amd slowly spread through her whole body. She tried to look up, to find a focus point. To stop the fall. But tonight was proving to be too much and aa she tilted her head back, her whole world felt like it was falling to the ground. But before she could hit anything she felt the strong arms of Ezra wrapping around her waist and hoisting her up.
"Lets get them both into the car" was the last thing Cali heard Ezra say before she passed out completely.
When Cali started to come to, it was to the sound of hushed and rapid voices. What was being said was too low and too fast for her to make out anything to string together a sentance.
Slowly but surely she started to piece together small things. Like her name being said and Kim's name and then she heard what she thought was Ezra's voice but then realized it was Marks voice. A low growl. Cause the voice that spoke next had a definite demand of control and authority to it. And the scent. The aroma of sandlewood filled her nostrils and clouded her head.
With a foggy look in her eyes, Cali tried to make sence of what was happening and where she was.
"She is coming too" Cali heard Mark say.
Not even a few split seconds later she felt Ezra's hands on her forehead. "Be careful, I don't know if you bumped your head or not" Cali could hear the concern in his voice.
"I'm fine, I just need to sit up" Cali said.
Ezra placed a gentle helping hand on her elbow and the other on her lowe back, helping Cali into a sitting position.
Cali's head felt slightly dizzy, but it soon passed, and she felt the hunger start to surge.
"I need to go, I have to go" she said. Rushed and almost out of breath.
"We can't let you go, not yet" Ezra said.
"You don't understand, I NEED to go" Cali pleaded.
"We need to talk first" Ezra said. in his firm Alpha voice. The one that demanded the attention of all, the one that Cali could feel boom through her body and vibrate her bones.
With flared hunger and eyes turning red, Cali turned to Ezra "I know you saw what I am, just like I saw what you are.So unless you want me to feed off your little wolves let me go" Cali's own voice demanded authority as she spoke.
Ezra handed her a plastic cup, "Here" he said.
Cali could smell the blood. O negative, at least the took the universal. It wasn't as good as the B negative, but it would do. At least long enough for her to gain control and talk to Ezra and Mark.
Gulping down the contents of the cup, Cali could feel the warmth of the sticky liquid sliding down her throat and warming its way to her down to her belly.
Feeling slightly better, Cali stood up and looked around. Thats when she heard the soft moan coming from the room next door.
"Kim!" she gasped. "What have you done with my friend! Where is she?" Cali asked, out of breath and frantic.
"Calm down, she seems to be doing fine" Mark replied, but the edge in his voice, his arms folded over his chest and his back and forth pacing had Cali thinking he was lying.
"I can hear her. Take me to her Now!" Cali demanded.
"Your in a den of warewolves, you don't have a right to be making demands little vamp!" Mark retorted.
"Cut it out both of you!" Ezra shouted.
Cali turned to him, she had forgotten he was besides her, his hand was still on her arm, placing a gentle hand on his, locking her fingers in his, she pleaded, her eyes searching "Please Ezra, Kim is the only friend who knows my secret. She won't tell a soul. If you don't trust her, trust me." Cali pleaded. Tears staining her checks.
"Its not that I won't trust her. But..." Ezra trailed off. "But what?" Cali asked.
"Don't go all angry on us again, okay? I didn't know what you were and seeing your eyes that blood red, that was scary and we have a lot of young wolves here. If I had know, I would have tried to stop Mark." "Stop Mark from doing what!" Cali interrupted. She could feel the anger boiling under her skin again, "Cali calm down" Ezra pleaded. Taking Cali's face in his hands, he bought her face as close to his as he could and locked eye with her "Cali focus on me, just me and breathe."
Behind the haze of the anger rising and her blood boiling, somewhere deep down she felt Ezra's words. Never in her life had she been able to stop a rage once it started. But with Ezra's calm voice, and the magnetic pull she had towards him, Cali was coming down from her rage, she could feel the calm settling over her again.
"Okay. But take me to Kim. Now. Please Ezra" Cali pleaded in half of a whisper, that no human ears would have been able to hear.
"Okay" Ezra said.
He took Cali's hand and stood up. Cali stood and followed him.
Once they left the small room she had been kept in, Cali noticed alot of yellow eyes. "Why are their eyes yellow and yours golden?" Cali asked without being able to control herself.
"Because he is Alpha" came the reply from behind. Cali hadn't noticed but Mark had followed. He was just a few paces behind them. "Alpha?" Cali asked. More to herself than to anyone else. But Mark was still on edge and had to have the final say "He is our ruler. What he says goes" Cali shot him a glance over her shoulder, a low growl resonating from deep within her. Ezra squeezed her hand tighter, taking her attention off of Mark and back to Ezra. Cali could not understand the protectiveness she had towards Ezra. But every fibre of her being was telling her to be his protector. And she didn't know how. He was an Alpha ware-wolf. How can a meer meek Vampire like herself, who only now for the first time realised her powers are far greater than she had ever imagined, that she could possibly imagine, protect a man who already has an army to do so?
Looking up at Ezra, she studied his face. Nothing escaped from his expression. He was firm and determined. His face gave nothing away of what was to happen or what she could expect. She gave up trying to figure out what the pull was that kept her from doing anything her Vampire nature wanted her to do. Everytime she felt the surge building Ezra pulled her out of it. She started to believe that maybe Alpha ware-wolves could control Vampires too.
She had only meet a queen Vamp once. But even then, she could defy the Queen and she never had this magnetic pull. Ezra had her being submissive without trying. A small giggle escaped her lips as she though, "My dad should see this! He will never believe me!"
