KAEL POV
I am sitting at the back of the lecture hall, but I am not hearing a single word. The professor says my fingers are rhythmically tapping against the gold inlaid desk, a Morvane family heirloom I carry just to remind everyone who I am, but my mind is Mile’s away, back in the camping trip.
Everytime I close my eyes I am seeing Nyra, leaning over the fire, the light dancing in her eyes,my skin still buzzing, a lingering heat from This morning when i finally broke. I am remembering the way I couldn’t stop myself, how my own hand felt like betrayal as I whispered her name into my pillow, desperate and losing every ounce of the Morvane family composure that I’ve spent twenty three years of my life perfecting.
I am a member of the most powerful clan in Aurum, I am not meant to be undone by a random girl from a village, the heavy oak doors are creaking open, i stiffen my breath, catching my breath before I even see her. It’s her, she’s walking down the aisle, her scholar robes fluttering, carrying that scent of pomegranate that is currently suffocating me. She is heading straight for my desk. My heart slamming against my rib like a caged animal.
“Kael,” she is saying, her voice soft and sweet.
“I’ve been looking for you, I finished the note, I was hoping you could…”
“You’re late,” I cut her off, my voice coming out like ice, I am not looking at her, I am staring at the blank parchment in front of me as if it’s the most interesting thing in the world.
“Late?” She is pausing, her brow furrowing.
“The session doesn’t even start until five minutes, please just help me look through it.”
“I am not interested in whatever this is,” I am snapping, finally turning to look at her, forcing my eyes to be cold, forcing the desire to be buried under the layers of clan pride.
“You shouldn’t be talking to me, I feel like most time you forget your place.”
I am watching the colour drain out from her face, I feel a sick twist of guilt in my gut but I lean into cruelty. If I’m not cold to her I’m going to reach out and pull her onto my lap right here, in front of the entire elite circle.
“I see,” she whispers, her chin trembling, but she does a good just in pulling herself together, her shoulders squaring.
“I forgot where I was for a moment, I won’t make the mistake of thinking you have a soul again.”
She drops the note on the table and leaves .
I watch her go, I am gripped by the urge to jump up, grip her by the hand and tell her how much I was sweating and shaking this morning, beating my d**k at the thought of her and how much I want to hold her, but I seat down, gripping the edge of my desk until my knuckles are white. “I am a Morvane, I am powerful,” I whisper, reminding myself over and over again as I watch her seat next to Mara, Vera and Laura across the room, I also realise that I am miserable.
NYRA’S POV
I wander through the dimly lit aisle of the school library , the air thick with the scent of ancient spells and forgotten tomes. It’s late at night, the moon filtering through the arched windows, casting silvery glows on the shelves. My transparent mesh top clings to my hardened n*****s, chilled by the cool draft. Below, my Pajama trousers hang loose on my hips, no panties underneath, a secret thrill against the quiet solitude.
I’ve never been the type to leave the hostel at night but I need this escape. Kael’s cold glades and sharp words have been haunting me since that stilen kiss from the camp, his avoidance twisting like a curse in my chest. A sudden this echoes as I turn a corner , my shoulder colliding with a solid chest.
A sudden this echoes as I turn a corner, my shoulder colliding a solid chest. Books scatter from my arms, pages fluttering like startled birds. I look up, heart slamming, there he is, Kael. His hair dark, tousled, emerald eyes widening in shock under the library enchanted lanterns, his rich robes embroidered with Sigils of his powerful family hang open at the collar, revealing his toned chest, no one else in the library, just us both.
“Nyra?” He growls, his voice edged with surprise, steadying me with a hand on my arm that lingers too long. “What the hell are you doing here by this hour?”
I pull back but his grip sending an unwelcome spark through me.
“Me? You’re the one sneaking around like a shadow. What’s your excuse Kael ? Avoiding your girlfriend or the whole school?”
His jaw tightens, those piercing eyes flicking down my body before snapping back at my face, I feel exposed under his gaze, the mesh top leaving my breast bare to his scrutiny, n*****s peaking against the sheer material. He steps closer, heat from his body cutting through the chill. “I could ask you the same, dressed like that? Looking for trouble in the stacks? Or just hoping to run into someone to torment?”
Heat flushes my cheeks, a mix of anger and that forbidden pull from before. “Torment?” That’s rich coming from you. Ever since we kissed, you’ve been treating me like I’m some spell gone wrong. Acting all high and mighty, I know your family power makes you untouchable but still.
He smirks, but it’s strained, his breath quickened as he crowds me against the bookshelf, the wood digging into my back. “That kiss was a mistake Nyra. You know it, I have a life, a girlfriend who doesn’t sneak around half naked in libraries, but you… you’re always pushing aren’t you? Testing me.”
My pulse races, his proximity sparking memories of his mouth on mind, rough and unyielding. “Pushing? You’re the one who can’t stay away, bumping into me like fate got a cruel sense of humour, admit it , you’ve been thinking about it too, about how it felt.”
His eyes darken, lust flickering like a conjured flame, he reaches out, his fingers brushes the edge of my mesh top, tracing the curve of my breast, I shiver as his thumb grazes my n****e through the fabric, hardening it further under his touch.
“Damn you,” he mutters in a husky voice, you have no idea what you do me.”
Before I can retort, he leans in, his mouth finding my neck, teeth graze my skin, nibbling sharply, sending jolts straight to my core. I gasp, my hands fisting his robes as he sucks at the sensitive spot below my ear lobes, marking me with hot insistent pressure. His hand cups my breast fully now, squeezing roughly, thumb rolling on the n****e until I am arching into him, wetness pooling between my thin trousers.
Then his lips crashes against mine, the most brutal and consuming. His tongue forces its way past my teeth , tangling with mine in a fierce battle, while his free hand grips my hip, pulling me against his hard bulge straining in his pants, I moan in my mouth, tasting the forbidden desire we’ve both been denying, my body melting under the assault, then he pulls away suddenly.
“We shouldn’t be doing this,” he says, voice rough, stepping back as if burned. “This is wrong, I can’t…”
I nod , my chest heaving, taste of him lingering on my lips.
“Yeah… we shouldn’t. Especially not with your girlfriend waiting for you somewhere. Go back to her Kael, pretend this never happened”
My words sting but the ache between us hangs heavy in the silent library.
