Chapter 2: Taken

The angel that the gods had sent to help me from such a cruel situation was no one but.. "Grandma! On the hands of the sickly old woman was a thick wood that she was almost unable to carry. Though her hands were trembling and she clearly stood no chance against these soldiers, she held onto her weapon tightly, acted brave in order to save me. "Mind your own business if you don't want to die, old woman." "No! You perverts leave her alone! How dare you touch my granddaughter!" The Epsilon's teeth gritted. "What a pain in the ass." He then motioned the other two to handle the old woman. "Grandma!" I shouted, worried. And as I try to run to her, the Epsilon blocked his arms, preventing me from helping. "Grandma, No!" Grandma swung her weapon towards the direction of the two Epsilons. One of them was able to catch the end of the thick wood and pulled it away from Grandma's hold. The deed made her almost lose her balance but she managed to stay standing. "Omegas are becoming courageous these days," says the one holding the weapon and to my surprise, he strikes the weapon in the air and it directly hits the old lady in the back with a loud bang. "Grandma!" I shouted and began to cry. She fell to the ground. The hitting did not stop there because another strike was made and the weapon aimed towards her head. "No, please no!" I screamed. "How could you! You're all gonna be rotting in hell!" The three of them laughed, amused by my words. "Rotting in hell? No, babe. We'll rule it together with Satan!" And laughter filled the whole area once more. Mixed feelings were making my eyes tear up: anger, agony and pity. I continued fighting against the werewolf holding me but my attempts to break free were useless. When my grandma moved, the two wolves drew their attention back to her. "This old woman has nine lives." Then they started beating her up. Kicking her in every part of her body, leaving no sput uninjured. The old lady, completely helpless, could only grunt in pain. Witnessing such a scenario broke my heart into a million pieces. Right at that moment I hated the way I am. I hate myself for being a weak omega. I could not protect the only loved one I had and could only watch as these pawns of Satan beat her to death. I weeped and my knees went weak and I fell on the floor, crying my eyes out while pleading with them. "Hey, that's enough." They only stopped when the old lady did not move anymore and when I saw my grandma motionless, all those tears halted, replaced by panic. "Is she dead?" asked the Epsilon holding me. One of those two kicked the old lady on the shoulder to check. "I guess she is." he answered with a smirk on his face. "Well, that's unfortunate." The near Epsilon crouched down to my level. He held my chin and pulled me to look at him. "Bury that corpse and we'll come back for you, okay?" he said with a smile and the other two joined with their evil laughters. I was too worried about grandma that I did not react anymore. He stood up. "Let's get out of here boys." When they turned their backs to leave, I forced my weak knees to move and crawl towards where my grandma is lying motionless. To say that her situation was piti "Grandma.. wake up.. g-grandma please.." My trembling hands caressed her bruised face, slightly making it move. "Grandma you c-can't die like this please.." When her hand moved and held my wrist, I was more than relieved. "Grandma..!" I cried harder. She managed to give me a slight tug of the lips, as if saying that she is alright. I laid my forehead against her. Without wasting any second, I used up all my remaining strength to pull her up and carry her on my back. I ran towards the place where me and the rest of the omegas lived. Upon seeing me and the injured old lady, the omegas on their huts ran towards us and helped me to take grandma to the Doctor that we have. He was not an Omega but he was willing to help us. He immediately took action together with her two daughters and I waited outside their hut. It took an hour before he came out. "How is she, Doc?" "Teresa is really a survivor, Anaya," he announced with a smile, Teresa is the name of my Grandma "She received a lot of hits all over her body but thankfully, there were no internal bleedings but her external injuries were grave. It's amazing that despite her sickness getting worse, she still managed to stand up against those soldiers for you.." She is amazing indeed. Never would I have expected that such a kind and loving person does exist in this corrupt world. Grandma Teresa and I are not biologically related. In fact, I originated from another pack. My father was an Alpha and my mother was her Luna. When I turned ten, my eyes turned into ice blue, a symbol that identifies me as an omega. In this world, omegas are being looked down upon just because we are weaker and our wolves are inferior in size and strength against other ranks. That's why when my dignified Alpha father found out that her youngest daughter was an omega, she locked me up in a dungeon. For three years, I have never seen any ray from the sun so when the opportunity arose, I seized it and ran away. I got lost in a forest and suffered from starvation for weeks. I was about to die of hunger when Grandma appeared and handed me a piece of bread. Knowing that I had no family, she took me here in Midnight Pack and the rest is history. She saved me without asking anything in return. She raised me well and loved me as if I was her own. That's why when the Doctor said that a special herb from a nearby mountain could help heal her wounds faster, I did not hesitate and immediately went on my way that very day. The mountain was not that close and I only had both my feet as a means of transportation so it took me a day and a half to come back to the pack house. But when I was half a mile away from our residence, huge, countless smoke and blazing fire greeted me as I looked up high beneath the trees. From my distance, I could hear faint noises of screaming and shouting. Among them also were growls and whimpers of werewolves. After realizing what could be possibly happening in the Midnight Pack, I paced faster until my feet moved into a panicked run. The only thing I had in mind was Grandma and her safety. Upon arriving at the very front of the packhouse, all my assumptions were confirmed. What greeted my eyes were unfamiliar shifted werewolves preying on my pack members. Dead wolves, shifted and not, were scattered all over the place. Blazing fire consumed and engulfed every house. The place where the once joyous banquet was held was now filled with crimson blood. Those laughter of rejoicing were now replaced with cries of agony. Screams of those who were being ripped apart, moàns of pain from females who were being molestèd and the cries of children getting taken away all mixed up in the atmosphere, creating such a deafening combination of noises. Right at that moment, I froze on the spot. The blazing and burning flames illuminated against my ice blue pupils. But instead of feeling empathy, there was something inside me that was a bit pleased by seeing such a sight. The werewolves who once looked down on me, beated me up and abused me in all types of ways, were now experiencing the same thing. Worse even. A body of a werewolf that was thrown in the air and passed through my level of sight was what pulled me back from reality. I immediately crouched and sat on the nearest table. "No―Arggghh!" Together with the scream was the sound of flesh being torn apart. I pressed my palm against my mouth not to just prevent myself from making a sound but also from vomiting. When I tried to take a peek from the edge of the table, I saw an enormous werewolf biting off a pack member's face. Amidst his preying, when he felt someone was looking, he halted and turned to my direction. Fortunately, my reflexes were fast and I was able to hide myself before he could get a glimpse of me. A loud and satisfied growl echoed and the werewolf left. I took that opportunity to leave. As I walked away, a hand suddenly grabbed my ankle making me flinch. "H-Help.." When I looked down, I saw the pack member that was targeted by the werewolf earlier. His face was damaged yet I was still able to identify him. He was the Epsilon that I encountered yesterday. The one that I bumped into, dragged me in a corner, attempted to sexùally abùse me and the one who had laughed while my grandma was suffering. "Help m-me.. please.." he begged. After what he did to me, I still felt pity towards him but looking at his situation he was already critical. "I'm sorry but I can't help you." I removed my ankle from his hold and as I left, my eyes produced unshed tears but I immediately shut my emotions off, this was not the time for that. I sneaked into one wall after another while the m******e was still going on. Trying to get into the back of the pack house where grandma and the omegas are. That area was far away from the main residence and hidden away. There is a possibility that these werewolves didn't find them yet. Holding the herb tightly in my hands, I dashed in the middle of the chaos. I have run through multiple dead bodies and almost got caught several times. I was panting and my heart was beating as fast and loud as ever. Both my knees were tired from my travel towards and back the mountain but I will never stop until I get to where my grandma was. "Anaya..!" When I reached the area where I left grandma, I halted when I heard a whispery call from somewhere. My eyes darted towards the hidden basement from the Pack Doctor's hut. I saw him peeking from the door on the ground. "Anaya..! Here.!" But as soon as I was about to run towards him, a strong arm captured and held me by the waist. "Where are you going, lovely?" When I faced the captor, I saw one of those werewolves who had attacked us. They were my pack's enemy. "Let go of me!" I fought and tried to break free from his hold. I hit his arm multiple times but it was almost as hard and penetrable as a metal. "Oh, an omega." He smirked, scanning me from the head and down. "A gorgeous one, in fact. You're gonna make me rich, beautiful." I cringed in disgust when he sniffed me on the neck. "Get away from me!" I pushed his head away. "Boys, I got one in here!" he announced, grabbing the attention of his other pack members. He then shoved me towards the other one that looked at me with filthy stares. "One of a kind," he muttered. "This will cost millions." Cost millions? Are they going to sell me? "What a shame we can't touch this one," another one went closer to me and touched a lock of my hair. Then he brought it near his nose and sniffed it. "She seems like a pretty good fùck." "The clients prefer vìrgins, boys! Now go and take her to the carriage!" I started to panic when they started dragging me towards the carriage where they had put other female werewolves. Some of them are even small pups. "No! Let me go! I said let me go!" No matter how I try to break away, this werewolf is almost three times stronger than me so it was useless. He shoved me in the carriage and locked me behind the bars. The horses carrying the carriage started to run and I looked back where I saw the pack doctor. He was looking at me with worry. I looked at the herb in my hand, slipped it between the bars and threw it on the ground so that he could use it for grandma. I gave him a meaningful nod and he assured me with a sad smile. I will come back, Grandma. I'll make sure I will.. Wait for me…
