Betrayal and Vengeance

628 Words
Raymond paced back and forth in the luxurious private study, his anger bubbling over. His hands clenched into fists as his mind raced with the betrayal he had just experienced. He had trusted Mr. Roland, and now, it seemed, he had been played—used as a pawn in the older man's game. "I can’t believe this," Raymond muttered, the bitterness in his voice palpable. "I trusted him. I gave him everything, and this is how he repays me? Playing me for a fool?" Angela, standing by the door, crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, her stance defensive. "Raymond, you need to calm down. This is a mistake. My father would never intentionally betray you." "Your father?" Raymond scoffed. "Don't you see? He's the one who played us both! I never should've trusted him. He used you, too, Angela. He used all of us." Angela shook her head. "No, you're wrong. My father’s been nothing but loyal to the family. He wouldn’t do this." Her voice softened, almost pleading. "Maybe there's been some misunderstanding, Raymond." Mrs. Roland, who had entered the room quietly, now spoke up with a sharp tone. "Angela's right. This is all nonsense. You’re jumping to conclusions, Raymond. Your anger is clouding your judgment." Raymond turned to face them, fury in his eyes. "My judgment isn't clouded, your husband played me ,God knows where he is hiding This was calculated. I’ve been played by everyone—especially Mr. Roland. I’ve had enough." His voice dropped lower, filled with menace. "I will not stand for this. I will take back what’s rightfully mine, and if that means destroying him, so be it." Alina, who had been silent up until this point, finally spoke, her voice laced with venom. "I agree with Raymond. Mr. Roland used us all. I’ve had enough of being his puppet. He made a fool of me too." Angela’s eyes widened. "Alina, no. This isn’t the way to handle things. We can fix this. We don’t need to burn every bridge." But Raymond wasn’t listening to her anymore. "No. This is the end of the line. I’ll make sure everyone knows the truth. Mr. Roland won’t be able to hide behind his lies anymore." He paused, his jaw tightening as he glared at them all. "And none of you will stop me." Angela’s face flushed with frustration. She turned to her mother for support. "Mother, you have to stop him. He’s being irrational." Mrs. Roland’s face hardened. "Raymond has every right to be angry. But you, Angela, you need to stop defending him. If this is the path he’s chosen, we will have no choice but to stand by him." Alina’s smirk only widened. "If Raymond’s doing this, I’m with him. Mr. Roland may have played me, but I’m no longer his pawn. It’s time to make our own moves." The tension in the room was thick, the air charged with an overwhelming sense of impending chaos. Raymond's mind was made up, and no amount of pleading would change his course. He had been betrayed, and he would stop at nothing to make sure everyone knew it. As he stormed out of the room, his words echoed behind him. "You can all choose to stay loyal to a man who’s betrayed us, but I’m done. I’ll get what’s mine, even if I have to burn everything to the ground to do it." Angela, still looking conflicted, turned to her mother and Alina. "We can’t let this happen. He’ll ruin everything." Mrs. Roland’s face was unreadable, but there was a hint of resignation in her eyes. "Sometimes, you have to let the storm run its course." Alina, her smile widening as she looked at Raymond’s retreating back, whispered, "This is only the beginning."
