Scene: Private Dinner – A Quiet, Intimate Setting
The soft flicker of candlelight danced across the table as Nathan and Isabella sat close, the tension from the past few days easing with each shared smile. The elegant dinner had been prepared just for them—an oasis away from the world and all its complications. Their hands brushed as they reached for their wine glasses, and Nathan leaned forward, eyes filled with warmth.
“I never thought I’d have this with you,” Nathan whispered, his voice low, sincere. “I thought we’d lost our chance.”
Isabella smiled, her heart swelling at his words. “We have this now. That’s what matters.”
She reached across the table, taking his hand in hers. He squeezed it gently, his thumb grazing the back of her hand. Everything felt perfect—until the sudden sound of the door being thrown open shattered their peaceful moment.
Mercy stormed in, her face pale and tight with urgency. “Isabella! Nathan!” she called out, her voice panicked. “You need to see this.”
Isabella’s stomach tightened at the sight of Mercy’s distress. “What’s wrong?” she asked quickly, standing up from the table.
Mercy hesitated for a moment before pulling out her phone and showing them a video. Isabella’s heart dropped as the screen displayed a recording—Alina, smug and composed, speaking with Isabella in their earlier heated argument.
The conversation was raw, filled with words that were never meant to be heard by anyone else. The recording ended with Alina’s voice coldly declaring that Isabella was standing in the way of her engagement to Nathan.
“I knew it. Alina… she recorded us,” Isabella said in shock, her mind racing. “Why would she do this?”
Nathan’s face twisted with fury, his jaw clenching as he stood abruptly. “Why the hell did you even argue with her?” His voice was low, dangerous, the hurt and anger clearly evident. “You know how important it was to me to cancel this engagement, but I can't now that you have ruin it”
Isabella flinched at his words, hurt flashing across her face. “I wasn’t trying to ruin anything, Nathan! But you don’t understand—”
“No, you don’t understand!” Nathan cut her off, his voice rising with frustration. “Do you think this is just about me.”
Isabella stood her ground, but her voice cracked with emotion. “I never asked for any of this, Nathan. You think I wanted to be dragged into a fight over you? Over Alina? I love you, but I’m not going to let anyone use me to get what they want!”
Mercy, watching in shock, tried to step between them. “Stop! Please, stop fighting,” she pleaded. “This isn’t the time for this. You need to talk this through—”
But Isabella and Nathan were beyond hearing her. Their emotions had taken over, and the distance between them seemed to widen with every word.
Nathan’s frustration grew, his hands shaking with anger. “You should’ve never spoken to her like that! You should’ve trusted me more than that!”
“I don’t trust anyone right now!” Isabella shot back, her own frustration boiling over. “Not you, not Alina, not even myself! This isn’t just about trust, Nathan. It’s about what’s been happening between us!”
Tears filled her eyes as she backed away from him, her heart aching. “I don’t know if I can keep doing this... I love you, but I can’t keep being dragged into this storm. It’s too much.”
Nathan’s face hardened as he tried to take a step toward her. “Isabella…”
But she was already shaking her head, her voice trembling. “No. I can’t. I’m done.”
With that, she turned and walked out of the room, leaving Nathan standing there, his heart sinking as the silence between them stretched longer than ever before.
Mercy, still in the doorway, let out a soft sigh, her expression one of helplessness. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, unsure of what to do.
